One of the most compact quadcopters with 3-axis stabilization and a 4K camera capable of capturing high-quality photo and video materials. Differs in modest size and light weight, when folded it does not differ in size from a small tablet / phablet. It has high flight characteristics, can reach speeds of up to 68 km/h, climb to a considerable height — the practical flight ceiling is 5000 m, the range of the remote control reaches 4000 m.
Due to the high capacity of the lithium-ion battery, it can stay in the air for up to 21 minutes . It is equipped with a modern gyroscopic stabilization system, as well as height sensors, optical sensors (recognizes obstacles at a distance of 5 m) and a GPS + Glonass satellite navigation module. The DJI Mavic Air quadcopter has a high-tech FlightAutonomy 2.0 flight control system, which is able to automatically avoid collisions with obstacles, keeping the drone from damage.
There is a “follow me” flight mode, flight around points pre-set by GPS coordinates and automatic return to the starting point. It is possible to control the drone with gestures (at a distance of up to 6 m). The built-in stabilized camera is capable of taking still pictures with a resolution of 4056 × 2280 and shooting UltraHD videos (2160p) at 30 fps, and video recording in standard FullHD quality is possible at 120 fps. You can control this model at a distance of up to 80 m from any smartphone or tablet running iOS / Android, while live 720p video from the drone’s camera can be broadcast on the gadget’s screen.

And so, I still decided to buy and took the Mavic Air. I chose for a long time, and the main criterion was the weight, the quality of the shooting, the fact that I am a layman in this matter, and of course the range and flight time. I climb mountains and freeride. Initially, I was very skeptical about such devices, but a friend showed examples of videos of his descent from the mountains and I caught fire. I don’t know what the maximum speed is according to my passport, but I don’t go down slowly on a bike. He manages and follows by filming a video! I really liked the compactness. Anyone who has ever ridden a bike in the mountains will understand. There is really a smartphone giant, but nothing more. Well, the quality of filming ... When I shot the first decent video, I showed it to my friends, I just threw off the link. So they did not believe that it was me))) The picture is rich, sharp, without lags. Well, in short, I am very pleased. Although this is an expensive toy for me. but it's worth it. And probably still worth taking a complete set with a remote control. Then you can play long distances. And I really liked the 360 mode, when it flies in a circle with a given program along the trattoria and shoots. It turns out effectively! It flies for 17-18 minutes, maybe 19-20. In principle, I have enough, but I only use it if there is a really worthwhile vidos. Not noisy, feels good in the room. IMHO, nevertheless, its main plus is the dimensions. It is ideal for travelers, cyclists, hikers. I usually transfer vidos to my smartphone, and put the smartphone in my backpack. Convenient!) I also like that there is full support for 120 frames per second, at 1080p Very compact. Not noisy. Fast. The charge lasts for a long time. There are built-in 8 GB of memory, which is important if you forgot to insert a USB flash drive. Very smart, does not even fly on branches or ropes. Responsive, driving a pleasure. Easy to use. Full 4K and 120 fps at 1080p. I do not regret! Put 4 because the price is slightly too high for me, but maybe I find fault. The price, as for me, is slightly higher than its actual cost, well, maybe a little. But still it is a brand and guaranteed quality. Strong wind does not hold well, but the stub, in principle, does a good job. use DJI Mavic Air less than month |
I like gadgets with an all inclusive package and this is just that option. I bought it and you immediately have everything you need for flying. And, yes, it’s also better to get basic skills in advance... on something simpler, otherwise the device is not cheap, and the first flight is already exciting) Awesome camera. There's a common cliché about "cinematic level quality," but these words just come to mind here. The 4K video on the 55-inch screen of our recently purchased QLED TV is especially impressive. And if you do slow motion in 1080p, edit it carefully, and do the correct color correction... in short, it's 10 out of 10. Cool control and stabilization system. I used to fly a cheap Chinese one bought for one hundred and fifty bucks, and it's hard to even compare them. I think you feel something similar sitting in a fresh BMW after a battered Lanos. The remote is really simple, unfolds quickly, you connect your smartphone to it and off you go, or rather up. Also, the built-in shooting programs came in handy, spiral removal looks cool. A luxurious kit, which didn't even fit on my table))) It has everything you need and more. I needed additional batteries first and foremost – three batteries give a total of up to an hour of flight. The stated gesture control does not always work. Taking a selfie sometimes works the second or third time. There is no water resistance or protection from water at all, so you need to look carefully for clouds and possible rain and turn up in advance. The included USB cable for connecting a smartphone is a bit short; it literally fits into my Sams. The live video broadcast is in good quality, but the lag is noticeable, up to half a second by eye |
this is the best drone today for both beginners and not very pros, if you don’t know what to buy - take the basic package, but then you’ll have to pay extra for the remote control, without a remote control it doesn’t fly much at all, very little, but what you get at the end is the best thing you can imagine by the quality of the picture, weight and compactness, more details below in the review sizes sizes sizes, that's basically the first reason why they are purchased, the Mavic Pro (also my review) is indeed better in terms of the picture, but this one can be folded into a "bundle," very compact, essentially in the folded state - like a point-and-shoot camera - truly flying ) the video quality is simply one of the best for multi-frame videos - it shoots in full HD at 120 frames, not all modern cameras or mobile phones can do that! price! here, too, there is something to say - everything is clear, top on the market, in terms of dimensions without competitors, but in the normal configuration the combo costs a euro! Euro mower! you really understand what you’re paying for, it’s clear that complex equipment can’t cost that much - although an iPhone is more expensive, the weight blows away, but here you just need to weigh all sides, it’s clear that in the wind this is generally the worst copter, but it can be run normally indoors , in general it’s not bad and doesn’t make so much noise and makes the wind indoors, but only because it weighs a little |
The “baby”, endowed with the potential of full-size drones, is a kind of “golden mean” between the ultra-compact DJI Spark drone and the DJI Mavic Pro, a serious professional tool, whose dimensions cannot be called gigantic either.
Full hardware
Considering the low weight of the copter (only 430 g), you are surprised when it comes to the equipment of the model. Judge for yourself, we managed to “shove” a 4K camera on a three-axis gimbal into the compact body of DJI MAvic Air, and its own 8 GB data storage (in case the flash drive got clogged or was simply forgotten at home), and, as usual, a full set of sensors for flight safety. Sensors and service cameras control the situation on all fronts (including from behind), besides, with their help, the drone builds a 3D map of the environment in real time, which makes it easy to control it indoors.
Filming process
Photo and video shooting from the quadcopter is carried out on a 12 MP camera, which received a lens with a viewing angle of 85 ° and f/2.8 aperture. Videos are recorded in a maximum resolution of 3840x2160 pixels with a frame rate of 24/30 fps, and when recording in FullHD format (1920x1080 pixels), the operator becomes available for high-speed shooting with a frame rate of 120 fps for freezing in the motion frame.
Flight characteristics
The quartet of foldable propellers is capable of accelerating the drone to an impressive speed of 68 km/h (when sport mode is activated). In the air, the model can be without recharging for 21 minutes, moving away from the operator at a distance of up to 4 km. The drone did not do without branded “goodies” that were successfully “run-in” on board relatives: support for gesture control and the Active Track intelligent flight mode (tracking moving objects), and the unique ability of DJI Mavic Air is to create 32 MP spherical panoramas. The copter would still have propellers that are not so noisy and it would not have any minuses at all. However, the compactness of the model and its advanced video capabilities completely cover this minor flaw and allow you to safely ignore it.
