The sound is good for almost all genres, rock seemed flat (maybe it was the composition). It's rare that the phone and headphones connect via the NFC module, but I found a solution. It's annoying, but not critical. Excellent headphones, noise reduction works, good sound, compared JBL, ended up with Sennheiser and I don’t regret it. The German music giant continues to delight fans with cool new products. The Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC headphones represent a new level of wireless sound quality.
Basic Components
Typically, when it comes to wireless headphones, you can only choose two out of three components: good sound, affordable price, and noise reduction. However, with the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC, the situation is somewhat different.
Firstly, this model is cheaper than many close competitors, by about 30 – 40 USD. Secondly, it has a very decent active noise cancellation system, NoiseGard, which virtually eliminates low monotonous hums and cuts out all loud sounds above 60 dB. Thus, you won’t hear the humming of a working laptop in these headphones, and a sharp loud car signal will be heard at half its actual volume.
And thirdly, the sound quality of these headphones is very good. The soundstage is clear and detailed, highs do not hurt the ears, and the bass does not rumble, overwhelming everything, while the midrange is read across the entire spectrum. Some might find the bass lacking, but this is a matter of taste. The frequency balance of this model is definitely top-notch. The Germans have also done well with the microphone. It is omnidirectional, so it almost doesn’t pick up breathing during a conversation.
Versatility and Functionality
Headphones can be connected via Bluetooth, NFC, and cable. The aptX codec ensures the quality of wireless sound. When listening to music traditionally through a wire, the headphones can be turned on so that the sound goes through the DAC and NoiseGard works, adding even more power and clarity.
The model is also impressive in terms of autonomy. The stated 19 hours of continuous operation in Bluetooth and NoiseGard mode probably corresponds to reality. We didn’t specifically track the time, but we used the headphones comfortably for almost a week before they ran out of charge.
In addition to the technical side, the manufacturer has not forgotten about ergonomics. Although the model is entirely made of plastic, it is reliable and sturdy. The construction is foldable, the headband is adjustable and easily twists, and the ear cushions are soft and pleasant to the touch. The only drawback we noticed in the entire assembly is the control buttons. They genuinely look too cheap in the overall context.
The model comes with a compact, convenient zip case, so it will always be protected on the road.
