Differences between the models: DC-S1R differs from DC-S1 in a denser matrix (47 MP vs. 24 MP), the absence of an AA filter and increased bit depth when recording video. At the same time, the DC-S1H has a 24MP sensor and shoots 6K video (previous models up to 4K).

Video reviews

The top model DC-S1R in Panasonic's debut line of full-frame mirrorless cameras has a strong focus on studio and landscape photographers. The prerogative of the camera is shooting in high resolution, with which it handles with a solid "five".

Serious intentions

The seriousness of the camera's intentions can be judged by only one external "wrapper" — the camera is planted in a housing with dust and water protection, along the perimeter of which a whole galaxy of programmable keys is dispersed to fine-tune the shooting parameters for themselves. The icing on the cake is an exclusive OLED viewfinder with a huge resolution of 5.76 million pixels and a switchable refresh rate of the displayed image (60/120 fps). The frame is displayed on the viewfinder screen already in the form in which it will be received after pressing the shutter button.

Matrix stabilization

Inside the one-piece magnesium alloy chassis is a high-resolution full-frame sensor at 47.3 MP. The image sensor is mounted on a movable stabilizing pad, which compensates for the shaking of the user's hands and small camera movements along 5 axes. The stabilization system is tough enough to pull out 5.5-6 exposure stops when shooting handheld or in low light conditions, which is the key to getting clear, blur-free shots and smooth video footage.

4K video

By the way, about the video. Movie recording is traditionally the strength of Panasonic cameras. The model under consideration is “able” in 4K at 60 fps, and immediately to a flash drive in 10-bit colour with colour subsampling 4:2:2(optional). Via HDMI, it is possible to broadcast video with the V-Log profile to an external recorder. The duration of in-camera 4K video recording rests on a 15-minute "ceiling" in order to avoid overheating of the matrix.

Guaranteed Success

Among other things, the model got hold of a 225-point contrast autofocus system with proprietary Depth from Defocus technology, a swivel display with touch input support, a service information screen and a double clip for XQD and SD drives. With such data, there are practically no impossible photographic tasks for the Panasonic DC-S1R, which means that the success of the model is guaranteed.
