Like the previous 2020 model MSI GeForce RTX 3070 GAMING X TRIO, this graphics card is equipped with Nvidia GA104 GPU based on the progressive Ampere microarchitecture. But, in this model, the GPU has more active functional units (+4.3%), and instead of GDDR6 graphics memory, faster GDDR6X is used, which provided a throughput increase of +35%. As a result, the average performance of the graphics card increased by 5-11%, and approached the top GeForce RTX 3080.
