Red Devil

The Red Devil line is the flagship in the PowerColor range and boasts an improved printed circuit board, a reinforced power subsystem and good overclocking potential. Specifically, the Red Devil RX 5700 received a factory overclocked processor that runs at 1610 MHz in base mode, 1725 MHz in gaming and 1750 MHz in Boost mode. As the manufacturer himself notes, the new product has a good overclocking potential, it can consume more than 300 W of energy, which should attract the attention of overclockers. Although, you should not hope for miracles here, it will be difficult to squeeze more than an additional 10% out of it.

Improved PCB Design

The design of the printed circuit board and the design of the cooler in Red Devil are completely redesigned. The cooling system consists of three massive 90 mm coolers and a large aluminium radiator with five heat pipes. A rear reinforcing plate is also included in the design. The card turned out to be quite massive, so more than two expansion slots are needed to accommodate it. The cooler casing is decorated with RGB lighting. There is nothing unusual here. But the HDMI and DisplayPort ports with separate backlighting are something new. Now you don't have to shine your phone when connecting the cable from the monitor.

Silent Mode

All in all, Powercolor has done a lot of good things to improve the RX 5700 XT by releasing an excellent and balanced product in the form of Red Devil. In addition, the card has a successful cooling system with a separate button for switching operating modes. We liked the Silent mode, in which it is very quiet even under noticeable load. But the price of the Red Devil is not to say that it is very attractive. The fact is that the price tag of $480 practically rests on the lower price ceiling for older RX 5700 XT models like the Gigabyte RX 5700 XT GAMING OC. And if the difference in price is only $30, then the candidate for the purchase does not seem so obvious.
