Video reviews

The new flagship of Olympus was a success. It is more and more focused on professional video shooting, for which a 5-axis matrix image stabilization system capable of compensating up to 5.5 exposure steps, as well as a powerful processor that allows recording 4K video sequence with a bit rate of up to 236 Mbps were used in the design of the camera.

Fast autofocus

The photo capabilities of the camera also do not graze the rear ones. The 20.4-megapixel Micro 4/3 sensor houses an autofocus system with 121 cross-type points. Autofocus is controlled by a separate quad-core processor, resulting in fast focus and more accurate tracking of moving objects.

rate of fire

Even more respect is the camera's rate of fire : continuous shooting in RAW occurs at a speed of 18 fps, and when the focus is locked, this value rises to an impressive 60 fps in full resolution. To move such data arrays, you need to stock up on fast SD memory cards, for which two slots are provided in the camera design at once.

Matrix shift

Sensor-shift technology, pioneered in the Olympus OM-D E-M5 II, opens up the possibility of increasing image resolution up to 50 MP. To do this, you need to install the camera on a tripod and take several frames with a sensor shift in a row, which the camera will then automatically combine into one photograph.

Ergonomics

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II fits perfectly in the hand, has in its arsenal a rotatable display in all axes and an electronic viewfinder with a high refresh rate (120 fps), and the camera body is reliably protected from dust and moisture. The only fly in the ointment is the lack of a built-in flash. But the package includes an external one (Olympus FL-LM3), so you don’t have to worry about the backlighting of scenes when shooting photos and videos.
