In 2020, Olympus announced the sale of its camera division, but already in 2022 a new model appeared from its successor - the OM System OM-5.
Wide selection of optics
This camera is designed to replace the popular Olympus OM-D E-M5 III and is almost identical in appearance to the previous version, with the exception of the “OM System” inscription on the front panel of the body. It is equipped with a 20-megapixel Micro 4/3 format image sensor with a 2x crop factor. There are many lenses available for this system from Olympus, Panasonic and other manufacturers, making the choice of optics very wide.
Interesting innovations
Among the improvements in this mirrorless camera, it is worth noting a more powerful TruePic IX image processor and an updated IBIS stabilization unit, which allows you to compensate up to 7.5 stops of shutter speed or exposure. In addition, the camera has fast autofocus with face detection and Starry Sky autofocus mode for shooting the night sky. It is also capable of recording video in Cinema 4K format (4096x2160 at 24 fps) and regular 4K resolution (3840x2160 pixels) without limitation on recording duration.
Ergonomics
To maintain its compact size, the camera is equipped with a small BLS-50 battery that provides approximately 310 frames per charge. A slot for UHS-II class SD cards is located on one of the side faces of the case. In addition, the model has a 3-inch touch screen on a rotating hinge, an electronic viewfinder and a full set of wireless communications for connecting to mobile devices. And finally, the camera is dust- and moisture-resistant, making it a reliable tool for a variety of shooting conditions.
