In the wake of the general hype of the summer-autumn 2018 season, Nikon finally broke into the full-frame mirrorless league. And immediately with two delegates — models Z6 and Z7.
High resolution sensor
The differences between this couple lie in the resolution of the sensor, rate of fire and cost. The more expensive Nikon Z7 got hold of a 45.7 MP image sensor, apparently borrowed from the flagship Nikon D850 SLR camera. Actually, the “seventh zedka” is tempting to call it a re-lined version of this top-end DSLR — the technical data of both models are so closely intertwined. The key advantage of the Z7 over its mirror counterpart is the 5-axis matrix image stabilization system, the effectiveness of which is estimated by the ability to compensate for up to 5 stops of exposure. The stub works regardless of the type of "wound" lens, including if it is installed through an adapter. At first, the adapter will have to be used often, since the Nikon Z mount optics fleet is just emerging.
Shooting parameters
The standard image sensor light sensitivity range of the model ranges from 64 to 25600 ISO units. The camera catches the shooting object with a 493-point automatic focus system, which combines phase and contrast type sensors under its wing. In high-speed shooting mode, the Nikon Z7 shoots up to 9 fps at full resolution (with exposure settings for the first frame), while a solid baggage of footage can easily fit into the mirrorless buffer. In the future, the photographs are transferred to the XQD card — unfortunately, the camera is not “friendly” with data carriers of other formats.
High detail
The controls on the "carcass" of the camera are concentrated exactly where you expect to see them. The service information screen on the top, the high-resolution OLED viewfinder and the 3.2-inch touch screen on a swivel joint deserve special praise. This beauty is “packed” in a dust- and moisture-proof aluminium alloy case. The Nikon Z7 is the choice of advertisers, landscape painters and studio photographers who value high detail without compromising the overall speed of the camera's response to user actions.
