Universal multimedia monitor

Manufacturers of curved monitors, first of all, focus on video game enthusiasts who value the immersive effect. Hence, there are many models with fashionable backlighting and minimal matrix response time. All the more interesting against their background is the BenQ EX3501R model, which is an attempt to make a universal curved monitor for the consumption of all kinds of multimedia content. Gamers will appreciate the high frame rate of 144Hz and support for AMD FreeSync 2 technology, while video fans will enjoy HDR support and wide colour gamut in 90% DCI-P3 colour space.

Curved panel with HDR support

The basis of the BenQ EX3501R is a huge curved 32-inch standard VA panel with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and a curvature radius of what?. The rest of the specs are up to the mark too, with a high 400 cd/m2 peak brightness, and support for DisplayHDR 400 technology, which delivers deeper contrast and richer colours to make games and movies more vivid. Looking ahead, it does an excellent job with HDR content, with the option enabled, dark areas have more depth, and colours are brighter, but the picture does not turn into a multi-coloured mess, as is often the case with inexpensive HDR monitors.

AMD FreeSync 2 and adaptive picture adjustment for the room

Now about other chips. Firstly, we are talking about the usual Flicker-Free, which reduces eye strain when the backlight flickers, and AMD FreeSync 2 to reduce picture tearing in dynamics. But adjusting the picture to ambient lighting conditions is not so common in other monitors. This feature is BenQ's own development and automatically adjusts the brightness and colour temperature to match the content so that the image on the screen remains optimally clear and comfortable for the eyes. For its correct operation, the monitor is equipped with a special ambient light sensor. However to configure it, you first have to tinker with setting the "standard" colour profile for yourself.

Built-in USB hub

The BenQ EX3203R monitor connection interfaces are represented by Display Port, HDMI and a USB-C port, through which you can also transfer a picture. The list of useful things in everyday life is completed by a standard headphone output and a class 3.0 USB hub, which allows you to directly connect a mouse, keyboard or other more capacious hub. Add in a stylish bezel-less design and a flexible stand with height and angle adjustments, and you have a great and versatile monitor that justifies its $550 price tag.
