The fifth generation of Redmi smartphones from the ambitious Chinese company Xiaomi has rightfully won the title of king of budget smartphones. The secret of the model’s high status lies in the balance of its technical characteristics and the use of a newfangled widescreen screen in the design.
Widescreen display
Xiaomi Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, which forced the resolution of the displayed image to be increased to 1440x720 pixels. Despite the large diagonal, individual pixels on the screen are practically invisible, unless, of course, you specifically search for them. In addition, the display boasts natural color reproduction and a wide range of brightness.
Decent performance
The performance of the smartphone is no worse - among the available mobile devices, the Snapdragon 450 chip is perhaps the best solution at the time of the announcement of the fifth Redmi. The model shows quick responsiveness during normal use, but you shouldn’t expect miracles from it in demanding games. However, almost all of them run on medium and minimum graphics settings. The user has access to 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, the latter figure can be increased by sacrificing the second SIM.
"Full stuffing"
The cameras in the smartphone's arsenal are represented by a good 12 MP main photo module and a 5 MP front camera with its own flash. They are good in their class, but with deteriorating lighting they do not show as high-quality results as when shooting during the day. In addition, the device has a fast fingerprint scanner and, following Xiaomi traditions, a built-in IR port for remote control of equipment. The whole thing runs under MIUI 9, a proprietary shell rolled on top of Android 7. The bottom line is that Xiaomi Redmi 5 will not disappoint, because in addition to its remarkable appearance, the smartphone quickly responds to all user actions.
