From the manufacturer's press release:

Sony has announced the release of a new digital camera Cyber-shot DSC-H9, belonging to the class of ultrasonic, i.e. digital compacts equipped with strong optics. According to the developers, DSC-H9 should replace the DSC-H5 model on the market. The presented novelty in terms of main technical characteristics is almost identical to its younger sister Cyber-shot DSC-H7.

The DSC-H9 features a 3-inch, 230K-dot articulated, retractable LCD screen that lets you shoot from virtually any position. In addition, it is the only model in the 2007 lineup to feature NightShot, a special development by the company aimed at improving the quality of filming in very low light conditions.

The SONY Cyber-shot DSC-H9 is equipped with a compact CARL ZEISS branded 15x optical zoom lens that delivers extremely clear shots of distant subjects. With an effective resolution of 8.1 megapixels, you can always sharpen your shot.

Thanks to Face Detection technology, the SONY H9 camera easily recognizes and highlights up to eight human faces in any frame, automatically optimizing focus, exposure and flash.
