Realme, which has become an independent sub-brand of OPPO and is now less and less associated with the parent company, has gotten its hands on the production of performant yet affordable handsets. Before we had time to move away from Realme 7 Pro, Realme 8 Pro had already come to replace it. However half a year is apparently not enough to create a completely new device, so the model has not received as many improvements as we would like. It uses far from the newest UFS 2.1 drive, Bluetooth 5.0 and the Snapdragon 720G processor — it was the same for the previous two generations. It looks like they decided to save on this, but still, the hardware ensures stable operation of the device without significant overheating, and the chip remains a solid mid-level platform with sufficient performance and economical power consumption. Simply put, the smartphone will become a good "workhorse" for those who are not chasing new technologies and developments.

It's strange, but in some moments Realme 8 Pro even became worse than its predecessor: there is less stereo sound, and charging has become slower, although it remains still fast (something like that). The fact is that the battery has the same capacity of 4500 mAh, but the charging power is limited to 50 watts. At the same time, a 65 W charger is included in the kit — a rather strange decision by the manufacturer. But in place of NFC, a 3.5 mm jack for wired headphones and a slot that can accommodate two SIM cards and a microSD memory card.

At the same time, there is work on the smartphone camera. This is the brand's first model with a 108-megapixel camera, which was previously installed only in top devices costing at least 2-3 times more. It uses a Samsung HM2 sensor with binning technology, that is, combining nine pixels into one for a clearer and brighter picture. You end up with 12MP shots, although a 108MP mode is also available. Also included in the main camera is 8 MP "wide" and two sensors of 2 MP each for shooting macro and monochrome shots. Various filters are available, Al-beautification, bokeh effect and interesting video shooting modes like "Tilt-shift", which seems to turn the real world into a miniature, "Doubleview" for simultaneous shooting from the main and front cameras, as well as "Astronomical Time Lapse Video" ”, which will convey all the beauty of the starry sky.

As a person is greeted by clothes, design is also important in a smartphone. In this case, the appearance of the model is catchy, mainly due to the large Dare To Leap inscription on the rear panel. This is the company's slogan, which is translated as "Changing standards." The device is designed for a youth audience, and such inscriptions do not frighten them. But for lovers of the classics, there is a black version without a logo. The camera is also made in the spirit of modern trends — “burner” modules in a square block, like in the iPhone 12 family. The front is a 6.4-inch colorful Super AMOLED display with an under-screen fingerprint scanner, a small “chin” and a neat cutout in the corner for the front camera . Although the case is made of plastic, it looks great, and the smartphone is not overall, but thin and light, as far as possible for such a “hardware” — 176 g of weight and 8.1 mm of thickness. Upon purchase, you get a transparent case and a film that is already pasted on the screen.

In general, if you do not compare the model with its predecessors, it turned out to be a rather performant smartphone with a bright design for an amateur, a good camera and, most importantly, an affordable price tag.
