The seventh generation of the OnePlus flagship turned out to be very successful: the smartphone was sold out at the pre-order stage, and the Pro version was called the smartphone of the year in many reviews. Apparently, history is repeating itself: the G8 has essentially become an improved version of the G7, and it was sold out literally on the very first day.
More powerful than your laptop
The new OnePlus is even closer to the perfect. It's finally getting 30W wireless charging, and a water-resistant housing like other expensive phones. Moreover, this is a full-fledged protection according to the IP68 standard, which OnePlus fans have been asking for for a long time. But outwardly, the smartphone has not changed much, the main change was the incision of the front camera right on the screen. However, the most interesting thing is inside. First, it's a cool Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It looks very cool and is addictive. In hardware, everything is as serious as possible: Snapdragon 865, Adreno 650 graphics, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Another year or two and it will be possible to render video on it.
Wi-Fi 6, under-screen scanner and triple microphone with audio zoom
Also, the “flagship killer” boasts wireless charging, loud and high-quality stereo speakers, NFC, an under-screen fingerprint scanner, a Wi-Fi 6 module and a quad-camera with a 48 MP Sony IMX689 main sensor with an optical format of 1/1.4". Separately, OnePlus focused on the presence of three microphones with an audio zoom function and a function for converting video at a frame rate of 24 fps to video at a frequency of 120 fps, for which the smartphone even has a separate microprocessor. It's too early to talk about the coolness of the camera. It is excellent, but it takes time for detailed tests in comparison with other camera phones in 2020.
Gap in the system
So what is the perfect? Not really. This time, the problem came from where they didn’t expect it — some smartphones had defective displays, which, when turned on at 120 Hz, went green after a while. Not everyone has this problem, and OnePlus already accepts defective handsets under warranty, so now it’s worth waiting a bit and seeing how this story ends.
