Micro 4/3 format cameras are a great solution for those who do not want to carry around a bulky DSLR. Even low-cost mirrorless models of this format can boast excellent colour reproduction and picture sharpness. Olympus PEN E-PL7 is no exception.
clear picture
The main "chips" of the camera are a stylish design and a 3-axis matrix image stabilization system, which allows you to shoot blur-free handheld shots at shutter speeds up to 1/10 s (depending on the lens and focal length). The stabilizer also works when shooting video, the super-quality of which the model does not shine with. The prerogative of filming videos was left to more senior colleagues in the shop. However, the camera records video in FullHD resolution at up to 30 fps. The basic maximum ISO value is low (ISO 1600), but it can be expanded, the main thing is to understand the slightly confusing menu. It will become easier to write videos and take photos in low light conditions.
Selfies are everything!
At the heart of the camera is a 16 MP sensor, the same as on the entire line of Micro 4/3 format cameras. The model pleases with branded colour reproduction, as well as a wide variety of creative styles and shooting scene programs. Among the built-in programs, you can even find "Selfi Mode" — when the display is tilted to the "on itself" position, a virtual shutter button appears on it. A separate line should be allocated fast and tenacious autofocus. It reliably focuses on the subject and guides it without losing sight. But the built-in flash was stingy — there was no place for it.
Convenience First
The model will suit both beginners in the world of photography and more advanced amateur photographers who decide to replace an inconvenient entry-level DSLR with something compact and stylish. A wide fleet of optics, excellent hardware and small dimensions allow you to put the camera in your purse or jacket pocket and always carry it with you.
