Low-cost mirrorless camera with a Micro 4/3 image sensor, aimed at amateur photo and video shooting. At the heart of the compact camera is a LiveMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 16.1 MP, supported by a TruePic VIII image processor. A similar bundle was used in the previous generation of the model from the E-PL series. The mirrorless has 3-axis stabilization with the ability to compensate up to 3.5 exposure stops.

A new word in the design of the Olympus E-PL10 kit is a 3-inch diagonal touch screen that slides down for easy selfie shots. The camera automatically enters self-portrait mode when the display is tilted. According to other points of the programme, the mirrorless camera is characterized by a 121-point contrast autofocus system, support for shooting 4K video at a frame rate of 30 fps, and burst photography at about 14 fps. There is no flash in the design of the camera; instead, it is supposed to have a “hot shoe” for connecting external lighting devices and other accessories. There are 16 artistic filters in the mirrorless software assets to beautify photos. In the "whale" configuration, the camera is usually supplied with a universal lens M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ.
