A digital compact in reliable “armor” that protects it from failure during falls from a 2.1-metre height, diving under water to a depth of 15 m, and impacting a 100 kg load on the chamber body. Moreover, the Olympus TG-5 does not lose its performance in frost down to -10 °C, and in case of a sharp temperature difference (for example, when entering a room from the street), the front lens of its lens does not fog up due to the two-layer design.
The rugged compact uses a 12MP back-illuminated 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. The lens in service with the camera covers a range of equivalent focal lengths of 25-100 mm, and its aperture "floats" in the range from f / 2.0 to f / 4.9. Photos with the camera are taken in RAW and JPEG formats, video is recorded in resolution up to 3840x2160 pixels (4K). The Olympus TG-5 vandal-resistant digital compact is designed to work in the harshest environments. Models are not afraid of diving under water to a depth of 15 m, falling from a 2-metre height, sun and frost (down to -10 °C), thanks to which it survives in those situations where conventional cameras would have given up long ago and hopelessly.

The camera is available in two colours: unremarkable black and bright red, which makes the camera more visible and prevents it from getting lost when dropped during extreme shooting. However, sometimes you can raise the ISO value higher, since RAW support allows you to effectively deal with noise at the post-processing stage of the footage.
Retrofitting
“Under the hood”, the model has a lot of additional equipment installed: Wi-Fi and GPS modules, an electronic compass, a thermometer and a pressure gauge. The camera also has something to offer in terms of video shooting — it can easily record 4K videos and high-speed shooting in FullHD with a frame rate of up to 120 fps. An image stabilization system is put on guard for the smoothness of the video sequence.
All-protected extreme
Focus during photo and video shooting is carried out using 25 points, however, when working in tracking mode, the camera's autofocus is not very strong. In addition, the owners of the camera blame the low screen resolution — 480x320 pixels is clearly not enough today for a 3-inch diagonal display. Despite these minor shortcomings, the Olympus TG-5 still belongs to the laurels of the best of all-protective compacts, with which it is not scary to go on any extreme outing.
