Omnivorous disc
Neo Forza Zion NFN025 is an inexpensive M.2-2280 format SSD, that is, 8 cm long. Unlike most other M.2 SSDs, it works on the SATA 3 bus, not PCI-E. This allows you to use it not only in new desktops and laptops, but also in relatively old ones. There is also a shortened version of the M,2-2242 disk for netbooks and nettops.
Integrated cache
There is no metal radiator, although it is not required — the disk heats up very little even during active operation. The controller is Silicon Motion SM2258XT. The XT suffix means the inability to work with an external operational cache chip, but the presence of a small integrated buffer. The SM2258XT itself is built on the RISC architecture, not ARM, like Phison solutions.
Long lasting memory
The SM2258XT controller is not the newest in the Silicon Motion lineup. The progressive SM2259 delivers more IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second). The old SM2258XT can't even work with the new four-bit QLC memory. But this is rather a plus — the Neo Forza Zion NFN025 is guaranteed to use a more wear-resistant three-bit TLC.
Smart Algorithms
Sequential read and write speeds for the 256 GB drive are 560 and 480 Mbps, respectively. The half-terabyte version writes a little faster — 510 MB / s. When writing very large amounts of data at a time (33% of the free disk space), the virtual SLC array, of course, overflows and the speed decreases. The disk then needs time to recover.
