A major Chinese manufacturer, Edifier, is gaining fans thanks to its product variety, quality-price balance. A three-way R2700 system will cost just $200, for which you will get great sound and features that, according to the manufacturer, have no analogues in multimedia acoustics in this price segment. Let's check how true these statements are.
Impressive appearance
Stylish strict classics are dressed in massive MDF cases 218x393x298 mm each with wood grain vinyl trim. Thin, finely perforated fabric grills neatly cover the speakers to keep dust out. Connectors are located on the back of the active speaker. Here, the developers did their best, providing the system with coaxial, optical inputs and two pairs of RCA, allowing you to connect almost all modern devices and two at once, for example, a receiver and a TV.
Great Features
The R2700 was endowed with a DSP-processor and a good power reserve (128 W) and this cannot but rejoice for such a price tag. Each speaker has its own separate class D amplifier, and the presence of a mid-range driver avoids the disadvantages of two-way systems, such as insufficient saturation, poor elaboration and distortion of the timbre in the upper midrange. The bass reflex port significantly improves the bass picture, making it deeper. The tweeter is somewhat embarrassing, giving out distortions that give the upper frequencies a specific colour. And here the function of separate adjustment of treble and bass comes to the rescue.
The settings are distributed between the remote control and the panel on the side wall: the tone is controlled only from the active speaker, switching inputs and turning the Mute mode on and off is carried out only from the remote control, and only the volume can be adjusted both remotely and “locally”.
Summing up, we can responsibly state that the manufacturer did not lie. The Edifier R2700 really impresses with its sound, and costs, perhaps, even cheaper than they should.
