Smart or classic watches: What to choose? The main differences between a traditional and smart watches

Smart watches and fitness trackers: what's the difference? We understand the distinctive features of popular wearable gadgets - smart watches and fitness trackers
Model overview based on user reviews
The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 is a highly regarded fitness tracker, praised for its AMOLED screen with 60 Hz refresh rate, adaptive brightness, and long battery life lasting over 10 days with regular use. Users appreciate its comfortable design, making it suitable for sleep and swimming. The band offers a wide range of features, including heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, and supports 150 sports modes. However, some users report issues with the touch screen's responsiveness and navigation, describing it as unfinished compared to previous models. Despite these concerns, many find it a valuable purchase for its price, offering a smooth user experience with a powerful vibration motor and intuitive app. While it lacks direct mileage display on the band, the overall functionality and design improvements make it a standout choice in the fitness tracker market.

AMOLED screen, 60 Hz, powerful linear vibration motor, with regular use the battery lasts more than 10 days, high-quality Ukrainian translation of the app, comfortable to sleep in the bracelet, can swim in the bracelet, and a cool flashlight Dials: limited selection and virtually no dials for Ukrainian-speaking users. Large chin, during certain training (such as walking), it is not possible to go to the main screen to check the time. |
The fitness tracker is completely worth its cost. It was bought to replace the previous model (4 or 5 band) that drowned in the sea. I chose the blue color, which is very nice and bright. The battery lasts much longer and it charges very quickly, so even if it runs out, it doesn't take long to use it again. I don't use most of the functions; for me, it's mainly the watch functions that matter: - showing the time - setting timers - alarm clock Good battery, bright colors, various watch faces, low price, nice vibration feedback the bracelet broke after about six months, but a replacement is quite cheap and available almost anywhere. |
This model is currently simply unfinished with a problematic sensor and an unpolished interface. Horrible. Returned to the store the day after purchase. Judging by the comments on the forums - everyone has such problems. Quickly measures saturation and heart rate. Includes a light sensor. The buttons at the bottom and (especially) at the top of the touch screen simply don't work, or they work every now and then. Therefore, it's difficult to increase the volume, and it's basically impossible to use the calendar. The Always ON display lives on its own, changing the brightness simply by moving your hand, and sometimes randomly. Even when gestures are disabled. In general, the navigation and menus are somewhat unfinished and inconvenient. For example, to change the volume, you need to go to the player menu, press the volume button to open an additional screen with a volume bar on the entire dial. And then to increase/decrease, you need to press the tiny buttons at the top and bottom, which work every now and then. Why the hell can't you just touch the volume bar to change it? This is just the bottom! And such moments are everywhere. Just a degradation compared to previous versions. |

The bracelet can unlock your phone without a password, but even at the minimum radius (which can be adjusted), the device unlocks from 2-3 meters away, which isn't very secure. It would be better with a 1-meter limit.
From a YouTube video, I learned that games are only available in Chinese versions, but there are several watch faces with built-in games. A downside is that the watch faces aren't in Ukrainian, and the date is in the "month/day" format, which is unusual. Not all emojis are supported in notifications, though app icons do show up. Images from messengers also don't display, but that's not critical.
There's no way to answer calls, but in such a gadget, a speaker and microphone might be unnecessary, possibly just like NFC. It's cool that you can change the straps, although sometimes I can't manage it on the first try.
Overall, I really like the bracelet: it has a pedometer, accurate sleep monitoring, and several trackers. If you need a gadget for workouts, it's the perfect choice. If you just need a watch, you might opt for a cheaper Smart Band 9 Active or for the same price, the Xiaomi Watch 5 Active (which already has a speaker and microphone). I can't even imagine what the 10th version will be like)))
