The advanced action camera Sony HDR-AS200VR is stuffed to capacity with all sorts of goodies that attract the attention of outdoor enthusiasts and vloggers.

Zeiss optics

The “Zeiss” nameplate on the side of the camcorder clearly hints that a well-known German optics manufacturer had a hand in the creation of Sony. The complete Zeiss Tessar lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and provides a 170° field of view, i.e. almost like a fisheye lens. However when the image stabilizer is turned on, the viewing angle decreases to 120 °. But it is possible to achieve a smooth picture even in the most extreme conditions (flying a drone, riding a bicycle off-road, etc.).

Clean footage

The camera uses a system of pixel-by-pixel reading of the video signal from the matrix, designed to ensure maximum purity of the video sequence. Indeed, the output picture is colorful and juicy, especially when paired with the professional XAVC S codec. The maximum video resolution is limited to FullHD (1920x1080 pixels), the recording speed of which can reach 60 fps, and the bit rate is 50 Mb/s ( when using high-speed SDXC Class 10 memory cards).

Accessories

A rich set of delivery includes a number of mounts for fixing the video camera, as well as the presence of a box for underwater filming (up to 5 m) and a protected remote control. The latter is made in the form of a large wristwatch and is endowed with a screen with which you can shoot video remotely (at a distance of up to 15 m) or control what falls into the field of view of the lens (very convenient when shooting yourself). A smartphone or tablet can also act as a remote control — the camera connects to mobile gadgets via a Wi-Fi connection.

Offline work

On a single charge of the built-in 1240 mAh battery, the camera is capable of recording videos for up to 3 hours in a row. This is an excellent indicator, because when traveling or during the shooting of action scenes, you do not have to look for a power source to charge the camcorder.
