The camera is still able to shoot panoramic videos and take 360-degree photos. Only video recording is carried out in an even higher resolution than before — 4096x2048 pixels at a frequency of 24 fps. At the request of the user, one of the sensors can be turned off, after which the shooting will be performed with a viewing angle of 180 °. Data is recorded on a microSD memory card with a maximum capacity of up to 256 GB.

Streaming

In addition to changing the shape of the body and increasing the resolution of video recording, the camera has acquired another significant innovation — when connected to a Wi-Fi network, the gadget allows you to broadcast live on YouTube, Facebook or Samsung VR. So far, this feature is supported only by smartphones of its own brand (starting with the Samsung Galaxy S6). The main functions of the camera are also available to owners of Apple gadgets (with iOS 10.0 and later) and desktop devices based on Windows and MacOS.

A virtual reality

Handheld shooting can be replaced by mounting the camera on a tripod or fixing it on any flat surface using a rubber ring that is worn on the base of the gadget's handle. The body of the device is protected from dust and splashes according to the IP53 standard. To edit the footage, Samsung has released special software, and viewing panoramic videos is best done through a virtual reality helmet, which allows you to fully immerse yourself in what is happening on the video.
