A desktop game console that combines the capabilities of a set-top box itself and a network media centre running Android 6.0. The basis of the hardware is the NVIDIA Tegra X1 chip with 3 GB of RAM and a video accelerator for 256 cores, and the built-in drive (solid state) holds 16 GB; however, if necessary, this volume can be expanded with a memory card or a USB drive connected via one of the two USB 3.0 connectors. There are no optical drives, the main source of games for the nVIDIA Shield game console is the NVIDIA GeForce Now network service, the use of which is paid (except for the first months). Through the HDMI 2.0 port, the device is capable of outputting 4K video and sound up to 7.1 to an external screen, there are no other multimedia interfaces.
