Short description:

Nokia N95 is rightfully considered the flagship of the company's product lines. This phone is not in vain called `multimedia computer` - in terms of its functionality, it can replace a regular phone, GPS-navigator, media player, camera and even, to some extent, a laptop with Internet access.

The phone is made in today's fashionable 'double slider' form factor - the front panel can be shifted both vertically and horizontally with a slight movement of the hand. In the first case, the user will see a numeric keypad for dialing numbers and text, in the second case, the media player control buttons. When you change usage modes, the screen orientation automatically changes. This ensures maximum comfort when watching videos, taking photos and videos, etc.

Specifications:
  • The N95, like many other Nokia products, runs Symbian OS version 9.2. This family of operating systems is used in many `smart` Nokia phones and has proven itself quite positively. The operating frequencies of the phone include almost the entire range of GSM - GSM 850/900/1800/1900/3G (HSDPA).
  • The built-in memory of the phone is 160 MB. There is an expansion slot for miniSD cards, one of them, with a capacity of 128 MB, is supplied in the kit. If you need more storage, you can use a card up to 4 GB.
  • The operation of the phone is controlled both from the control panels - quite convenient and quite `intuitive`, and with the help of voice. Not only voice dialing is provided, but also voice control of functions.
  • The phone's player supports a variety of file formats - music AAC and AAC+, eAAC+ of the Apple family and WMA (Microsoft) and, of course, MP3. MPEG-4 video playback is supported in the video mode, if necessary, you can play the video on a large screen by connecting the N95 to a TV. For radio lovers, there is a built-in FM receiver.
  • The GPS navigator will allow you to easily find your way in any unfamiliar area. Currently, there are optimized maps of the largest cities in Ukraine and Russia.
Filming:
  • Nokia N95 is still a functional camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The maximum resolution of 5 megapixels allows you to take quite high-quality pictures. A bright LED flash does not harm the shooting process, at least.
  • The phone's camera allows you to shoot high-quality video with VGA resolution (640x480) - this is quite enough to play recordings on traditional TVs with high quality, almost `one-on-one`.
  • As additional bonuses, one can note a digital viewfinder, a digital 10x zoom and a small double-sided `curtain` that protects the lens when the camera is not in use. The phone has special buttons for accessing the gallery and quick ZOOM control during shooting.
  • For video telephony in 3G networks, a small additional VGA camera is installed on the front panel of the phone.
Display:
  • The N95 uses a high-quality 2.6-inch display with a resolution of 240x320 (depending on the position and mode of use - and 320x240). Although the resolution is not the highest possible, this is more than offset by the number of displayed shades of colours - 16,000,000. Very few competitors can boast of such properties.
Network and connections:
  • Nokia N95 is a third generation (3G) network phone. In addition to accessing the Internet via GPRS protocol (with EDGE), which is quite standard for most modern mobile phones, a high-speed connection via the HSDPA protocol is also supported. Theoretically, data transfer rates up to 14 Gbps are possible. This makes it easy to send video recordings to other subscribers and Internet users, use the front-panel camera to participate in video conferences, etc. In addition, work in wireless WLAN networks (Wi-Fi) is supported. Such a connection can be used both for Internet access and for synchronization with office and entertainment equipment.
  • Other interfaces can be used for synchronization - bluetooth, infrared IrDa, miniUSB, to connect to a TV using an adapter, there is a regular headphone output.
  • The phone uses a very convenient browser - it automatically detects the type of Internet content - for example. WAP or HTML and, according to the received data, optimizes the settings. Additionally, you can easily set up an e-mail client on your phone for quick e-mail access.
Music:
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Volume keys on case and headset
  • Support for various bitrates for mp3 files
  • 8 equalizer settings (6 presets)
  • Channel balance adjustment
  • Repeat and shuffle function
  • Ability to sort by songs, playlists, artists, albums, genres and composers
Nokia N95 delivery set:
  • Battery Nokia BL-5F 950mAh 3.7V
  • Nokia Compact Wall Charger AC-5E
  • Nokia MicroSD card included with adapter
  • Multimedia (audio/video) cable Nokia CA-75U
  • Nokia USB data and sync cable DKE-2
  • Stereo headset (player control with microphone and stereo headphones)
  • Software CD
On the whole, the model makes exactly the favorable impression that Nokia was obviously counting on. As you know, initially it was not planned to release it for the USA, however, due to the huge demand for the model, the N95 is also supplied to the American markets. Despite the strict, if not ascetic appearance, the phone is quite recognizable and respectable.
