LG's UD-59 line of 4K monitors debuted in 2017 and now comes in two models. The senior representative not only received a screen with a larger diagonal (32 versus 27" for LG 27UD59), but also boasts improved brightness, contrast and colour gamut.
Bright, high-contrast image with deep colours
The 32UD59-B is based on a 10-bit VA sensor that displays over a billion different hues and tones with a colour gamut of up to 95% DCI-P3 for a digital cinema-like video experience.
The brightness of the monitor is 300 cd / m², and the static contrast ratio is 3000 to 1. Flicker Free technology is responsible for the absence of eye-tiring flickering.
The viewing angles of the matrix are comparable to the capabilities of IPS models (178 degrees), but the display of the same colour in different parts of the VA screen is noticeably different. Refraction is explained by the fact that the two areas of the display at a particular time are at different angles to the user. Due to this shortcoming, the monitor is not suitable for professional photo editing and graphics.
Gamer's Assistant
LG 32UD59-B is positioned as a gaming solution not only because of the high response speed of 4 ms. The manufacturer also offers additional gaming features. The first is AMD FreeSync support, which ensures that the display stays in sync with compatible AMD graphics cards. As a result, the response time becomes even faster, and frames in dynamic scenes change smoothly and without delays, jerks or other artifacts.
Secondly, the model supports other technologies focused on games: Black Stabilizer (improves the picture in dark game scenes) and Dynamic Action Sync (minimizes input lag).
Other benefits
The 32-inch monitor is lightweight, making it easy to mount it on the wall, for example. But a more familiar use case is placement on a stand, which is adjustable for the tilt and height of the screen.
To output images from a PC and other devices, you can use one of the two HDMI ports or Display Port. A separate audio system may not be needed at all, since the LG 32UD59-B has two speakers, 5 watts each.
Using the proprietary OnScreen Control utility, you can adjust the image not in a limited menu, but in a convenient interface, including setting various multitasking modes.
In general, the LG 32UD59-B is perfect for gaming and other multimedia entertainment, especially if your personal computer is equipped with a FreeSync-enabled graphics adapter.
