Little Husqvarna Robot — Just as Good as the Big One
The company Husqvarna, a pioneer in the creation of robotic lawn mowers since 1995, has long been known as a manufacturer of equipment for large areas. However, in 2024, it introduced the Husqvarna Aspire R4 model — a compact robot designed for lawns up to 400 m². Despite its small size (55x33x22 cm) and a weight of only 5.9 kg, this model possesses most of the functions typical of larger devices. The Aspire R4 is particularly adept at handling complex-shaped areas: it can recognize up to three separate mowing zones, automatically determines narrow passages, and plans a route to effortlessly maneuver between flower beds, trees, and garden paths.
Design Features of the Robotic Lawn Mower
The device is equipped with a brushless motor, distinguished by its quiet operation (not more than 59 dB) and low energy consumption — approximately 3 kWh per month with daily activity. It is powered by a built-in lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2 Ah, which lasts for about 70 minutes of operation. After that, the robot automatically returns to its base, where it charges for 75 minutes. It cuts grass using a rotary system with a cutting width of 16 cm. The cutting height can be set between 20 to 45 mm, but this requires flipping the device and using an L-shaped Torx key to adjust the cutting disc's position. However, the model is very convenient for maintenance: thanks to an IPX5 water resistance rating, the body can be easily cleaned with a brush and garden hose.
Almost All Settings and Adjustments — Through the App
Guided by perimeter cables and reacting to obstacles using an impact sensor, the Husqvarna Aspire R4 demonstrates confident navigation around the area. Additionally, the device includes a temperature sensor preventing the robot from operating at temperatures below 5 °C. The unit is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, allowing for updates and remote control. The main control is carried out through the Husqvarna Automower® Connect app, which offers access to schedule settings, integration with "smart home" systems (Gardena Smart System), and activation of voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Home. This control format is ideal for those who want to manage the robot right from their couch.
