The back of the smartphone from Huawei proudly displays the logo of the renowned camera manufacturer Leica — German engineers participated in the development of optics for the phone's dual main camera.
Color and Light
Both camera modules have a resolution of 12 MP and are equipped with Summarit 27mm f/2.2 ASPH lenses. Only one sensor captures color information, while the other captures light, producing a black-and-white image. According to the manufacturer, the software combination of data from the two cameras allows for an image with a wider dynamic range. However, in practice, the difference between shots with the monochrome camera open and forcibly closed with a finger is hardly noticeable. But if you shoot directly in black-and-white mode, the result is undoubtedly pleasing — the difference between a photo from the camera and a forcibly converted black-and-white color shot is visible to the naked eye in favor of the former.
Street Photography
The focal length of the main camera is ideally suited for shooting in the street photography genre. Users are offered a variety of automatic presets and manual settings with the ability to obtain the final result in uncompressed RAW format. Considering the camera's capabilities, the absence of an optical image stabilization system on board is particularly surprising, which is especially missed during video recording. Moreover, the trendy 4K resolution is not supported when shooting video with the smartphone.
Performance
The camera phone operates on the Android 6.0 OS with the EMUI interface layered on top. With a FullHD screen resolution covered by slightly curved 2.5D glass, the in-house developed 8-core Kirin 955 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM shows excellent performance in games. Less demanding applications run without any lags or slowdowns. The high performance of the smartphone is confirmed by synthetic test results: over 90,000 points in AnTuTu and about 6,000 in Geekbench 3.
Autonomy
To protect data from unauthorized access, a fast fingerprint scanner is provided on the back of the smartphone. The mobile gadget's battery life is precisely one day of not overly active use — that's how long its 3000 mAh battery lasts.
