Omen series replacement

Watching the churning waters of the gaming industry, HP came to the same conclusion as other monitor manufacturers - it's time to update the range. So in 2020, the Omen gaming displays are being replaced by a new line of HP X monitors that will fully meet the requirements of the games of the future. A total of 7 HP X models were unveiled, each boasting a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, AMD FreeSync Premium support, and EyeSafe-certified HP Eye Ease. The largest and most sophisticated 32-inch panel, which occupies a leading position in the new hierarchy, came to us for tests.

10-bit IPS display with excellent colour reproduction

So, under the name HP X32 hides a 32-inch IPS matrix with 10-bit colour depth (8-bit + FRC), a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and a response time of 1 ms G2G. The display features the standard colour gamut for current gaming monitors (99% sRGB) and brightness increased to 400 cd / m², which complies with the DisplayHDR 400 standard. In addition, it supports the AMD FreeSync Premium feature in the frequency range from 60 to 165 Hz. To the eye, the X32 shows an excellent and colorful picture at the level of good IPS panels, but for this, at first you will have to reconfigure the colour profile for yourself. The factory settings here are rather dim, as if they were set up for working with text and tables, so as not to tyre the eyes once again.

Looks neat and well built

In general, the HP X32 left a pleasant impression. It looks neat, well-assembled, it has a moderately responsive matrix, the reaction speed of which is enough even for the most dynamic games. The picture looks pretty juicy, thanks to 99% coverage of the sRGB triangle and support for the DisplayHDR 400 format. And you can live without 4K. At a distance of a metre, the difference between 2K and 4K is not particularly striking, but the graphics card works many times faster. As a result, the HP X32 turned out to be a kind of cast of an perfect 32-inch gaming monitor - it has everything a game fan needs, no unnecessary frills like backlighting, and they ask for $400 in stores for all this stuff. Against the background of current prices for video cards, these are flowers.
