Which is better: wet or dry heating element in a water heater?Learning the design features, pros and cons of "wet" and "dry" heating elements in water heaters

Detailed FAQ on storage water heatersWe answer the most common questions regarding the installation and operation of storage water heaters
Model overview based on user reviews
The Gorenje GBF T/V9 water heater is highly regarded for its efficient heating capabilities and energy-saving features. Users appreciate its quick heating and the convenience of its temperature sensor, which allows for easy monitoring. The model is praised for its excellent thermal insulation, keeping water hot for extended periods even when turned off. It features "dry" heating elements, which reduce scale formation and enhance reliability. However, some users note that it heats slowly, requiring advance planning. The build quality is generally seen as robust, though a few reviews mention concerns about the durability of the tank, with some experiencing leaks after several years. Despite these issues, the boiler is considered a good value for money, suitable for small to medium-sized families, and is recommended for its economical operation and reliable performance.

It's a pity that almost all water heaters have a round shape. As a result, they take up more space than they would if they were flatter. Fortunately, we had extra space to hang such a tank without worrying about it being in the way. An excellent water heater, sufficient for a family of two, we have an 80-liter model. For more or less reasonable money, you get very good quality and the ability to shower whenever you want, not just when there's hot water available. I'm sure that when we have a child, we'll be constantly glad that we decided to make such a purchase. Heats well and quickly. It's enough for 1 hour for the water to become very hot. Very convenient temperature sensor, no need to stare, just a quick glance is enough. The water stays hot for a long time, even when the device is turned off. It doesn't consume too much. We have weak wiring in the house, we have to take it into account. You can't turn on two voracious devices at the same time. Not found. use Gorenje GBF T/V9 month or more |
The water heater was installed not so long ago, 80 liters is more than enough for our family. We were deciding whether to take this model or a smaller one, and in the end, we went for the bigger one. As a result, you can easily take a shower even if the cold water is turned off; this problem is now a thing of the past. This model has a quite convenient temperature adjustment, located right at the bottom, at eye level, so you can set it as comfortable without any problems. We hardly adjust it; in the summer, it’s just more convenient to have the water a bit cooler. Otherwise, you adjust it once and can forget about it. If you want to save on electricity, you can slightly reduce the heat or set the temperature to a lower level; it will stay warm for some time, so everything is in our hands. At the top, there is a temperature sensor where you can see the current temperature in the tank. Overall, we are quite satisfied with the purchase; we now have stable hot water even in the summer, without endless outages, not too expensive, and not too costly in terms of electricity. High-quality steel tank with protective enamel coating and additional protection in the form of a sacrificial magnesium anode. This model is equipped with "dry" heating elements. This design significantly reduces scale formation and increases the reliability of the heating element. It is one of the most economical storage models. If, as recommended by the manual, the temperature regulator is set to position E, the water will not heat to the maximum, but only to 55 degrees. On one hand, this might seem insufficient, but the overall volume of the boiler is decent, and when diluted, it still provides about 150 liters of warm water, for example, for a shower. On the other hand, in this mode, virtually no scale forms on the "dry" heating elements. With this water temperature, heat loss through insulation will be minimal, and the electricity consumption for heating water will be minimal. Therefore, in our home, the boiler runs in "standby" mode at position E, and only if a lot of hot water is needed immediately, do I set the regulator to maximum heating. A definite advantage is also the fact that the boiler is made in Europe, specifically in Serbia. The reverse side of the economy was the extreme slowness of the water heater. The entire tank heats up to 75 degrees for more than FIVE (!) Hours, which is very, very slow. In mode E, due to the lower required temperature, things go faster, but still it is more than three hours of boiler operation. So you need to turn on and regulate the water heater in advance. The thermometer is located in the upper part of the water heater and, after installation, is at a height of more than two meters. This is very inconvenient for people of small stature, aged or with poor eyesight. use Gorenje GBF100T/V9 month or more |
