Which is better: wet or dry heating element in a water heater?Learning the design features, pros and cons of "wet" and "dry" heating elements in water heaters

Detailed FAQ on storage water heatersWe answer the most common questions regarding the installation and operation of storage water heaters
Model overview based on user reviews
The Gorenje GBF T/V9 water heater is highly regarded for its efficient heating capabilities and energy-saving features. Users appreciate its quick heating and the convenience of its temperature sensor, which allows for easy monitoring. The model is praised for its excellent thermal insulation, keeping water hot for extended periods even when turned off. It features "dry" heating elements, which reduce scale formation and enhance reliability. However, some users note that it heats slowly, requiring advance planning. The build quality is generally seen as robust, though a few reviews mention concerns about the durability of the tank, with some experiencing leaks after several years. Despite these issues, the boiler is considered a good value for money, suitable for small to medium-sized families, and is recommended for its economical operation and reliable performance.

I bought this model for my hairdresser. At first I wanted to take a 50-liter model, but then I decided to play it safe and took this one. Works six days a week, nine to ten hours a day. Water is supplied to three workplaces and used as needed. The decision with 80 liters turned out to be very correct, fifty liters would most likely not be enough. In almost two years of his work, there was not a single serious problem. He just quietly and imperceptibly does his job. Minimalistic, I would even say utilitarian design. It has very good thermal insulation. The next morning, the water is still warm enough to receive the first five or six customers. Set the thermostat to 65 degrees. This does not quite correspond to the manufacturer's recommendations (they advise setting an economical mode with 55 degrees), but otherwise there may not be enough water for all customers. "Dry" heating elements are installed in it. I really didn’t understand why they are so much better than usual, but they are definitely safer. In general, about security, this model has everything very right. There is protection against overheating and high pressure, a safety valve, grounding, and even a special frost protection mode. From a cold state, it heats up very slowly. After the weekend, you need to turn it on at least two to two and a half hours earlier than on a normal day. In order not to come in advance, I bought a programmable weekly timer switch / switch for this. He also turns off the boiler in the evenings. use Gorenje GBF 80T/V9 month or more |
The boiler was purchased in 2016 and has been running for 8 years without any complaints. The last 4 years it has been on almost constantly. It started dripping in 2024, it turned out to be a leaking tank, but it's my fault that I haven't cleaned it at all in these 8 years. I think if it had been cleaned before, it would have lasted another 8 years. Build quality. The fact that it is a dry heater gives confidence that it will last a long time. Generally silent. Relatively energy-efficient No particular complaints. Clean it periodically and it will serve you for many years) |
Ordinary water heater. They took it for a family of 3 people, 4 people is their maximum, the water for the latter will be just warm, not hot. Bought 2 times the same model. Here's the second tank leaking. They have an average resource of 6 years, without maintenance with a coarse water filter. Economical The resource of the tank is about 6 years, instead of the indicated 10 |
