Enough for everyone
FSP Hydro Pro is a series of inexpensive power supplies from 500 to 700 W based on FSP's own developed circuitry based on separate DC-DC voltage conversion. The most versatile, in our opinion, is a model with a claimed total power of 600 watts, and exactly the same amount it produces on the main solid line +12 volts (that is, the actual power of the PSU on all lines is even higher in total). Simply put, there will be no problems with powering even a heavily overclocked processor (150 – 250 W) through a 4 + 4-pin connector and a flagship graphics card (250 – 350 W) through two 6 + 2-pins.
Saves kilowatts
Great emphasis in FSP Hydro Pro is placed on energy efficiency. Thus, the efficiency of the power supply is 88 percent at half load and 85 percent at minimum and maximum. For this, the PSU deservedly received the 80 PLUS Bronze certificate. Contributes to the efficient consumption of electricity and the power correction mechanism Active PFC ≥ 0.9. Whereas for cheap power supplies with passive PFC, up to a third of the electricity returns back to the network, wasting heating the wiring.
Stabilization and protection
Additionally, Active PFC smooths out drawdowns and even short-term power outages in the mains. FSP Hydro Pro works only in European 230-volt networks (200 – 240 V), while the manufacturer decided not to implement support for American 115-volt networks in order to save money (especially since this is not in demand in our area). But most levels of electrical protection are provided: OCP and OPP from overload, OVP from overvoltage and SCP from short circuit.
Silence and coolness
The wires of the FSP Hydro Pro are long, but fixed (not modular): the 24-pin one for powering the motherboard is wrapped in a nylon braid, and the rest are made in the form of a flat, pliable “noodle” for neat laying inside the PC case. The PSU is cooled by a 12-cm fan, which operates very quietly (up to 1000 rpm) at a load of up to about 60%, after which it starts to increase its rotational speed so that the internal PSU electronics do not overheat.
