The acronym Dali (Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries) has been synonymous with good sound for almost 30 years. The Danish manufacturer is stable in its approach to creating the best, so its products do not lose their price and popularity for a long time. Dali Rubicon 2 entered the market 6 years ago, but still remains the benchmark in the niche of premium bookshelves, the price tag of which starts at $2000.

Perfect appearance

Looking at the system, once again affirms the opinion that DALI is simply not capable of creating ugly speakers. Even state employees are always distinguished by excellent assembly and high quality materials, and there is nothing to say about the premium segment.

The compact 35x20x34 cm cabinets are designed for rack mounting and are available in four finishes — black or white gloss, mahogany (rosso) and walnut. The front and back panels are slightly rounded for added elegance. At the back there is a phase inverter port and a pair of acoustic terminals with gold-plated terminals; front — two speakers — a 29 mm soft dome tweeter, as in the more expensive Epicon series, and a 165 mm woofer with a paper cone reinforced with wood fibers to dampen unwanted vibrations.

Superb surround sound

Like all DALI systems, the Rubicon has a wide beam pattern. The angle of the radiation spectrum allows you to create an excellent stereo panorama, so the listener does not have to be in front of the speakers to feel the beauty of the scene. But, you have to place them away from the wall. At least 30 cm, then the bass will not turn into a rumble, but will remain clear and elastic, and the middle — expressive and open, making the stage incredibly dynamic.

Classics, jazz, blues and rock sound full, without causing a desire to interfere with the system configuration. Metal and dance music are transmitted a little worse in the lower and middle bass, but this is corrected by connecting a closed-type subwoofer. There are no complaints about other frequencies at all. The acoustics are perfectly tonally balanced and reproduce the music as authentically as possible.

Rubicon 2 can really become a Rubicon for many, not only in terms of cost (and it is almost $2500 here), but also in terms of the level of perception of musical material. Having heard this system once, you will not want to return to less.
