Bull's-eye hit

With the release of Ballistix RAM, the American manufacturer Crucial hit the bull's-eye, finding the perfect balance between form, content and price. Since then, Crucial has only been building momentum, releasing numerous modifications of Ballistix with multi-coloured heatsinks, RGB lighting, brand new E-die chips and other modifications.

Standard frequency 3200 MHz

Most of them became hits of sales, repeating the history of the incredibly successful competitor HyperX Fury. The series includes single strips with a capacity of 8, 16 and 32 GB, as well as dual-channel kits with a total volume of up to 64 GB. Claimed operating modes: 3000, 3200 and 3600 MHz. We got a relatively fresh variation of Crucial Ballistix with RGB backlighting and a nominal frequency of 3200 MHz for testing.

Fully illuminated radiator

For additional cooling of memory chips, aluminium plates with a well-known torn edging are used. A translucent light guide is fixed at the end, through which a muffled glow of the LEDs breaks through. To control the backlight, the manufacturer offers a proprietary MOD application. The height of the bar turned out to be far from the smallest, but not the highest either - 39.2 mm.

Overclocking depends on the chip used

Apparently, a modification with old chips came to us for tests, which give out the claimed speeds, but not to say that they love overclocking very much. In the BIOS settings, the memory worked in DDR4-3200 16-18-18-36 mode at a voltage of 1.35 V, but then “give me back my 2004” started, when I had to manually go through the settings and wait whether the system starts up or not.
