Debuted in 2018, BenQ introduces the GW series. It is considered "folk", as it combines high-quality and inexpensive solutions. The model is the heir to the popular BenQ GW2470H, differing by the presence of a pair of built-in speakers (with a power of 1W each), as well as a set of available interfaces. It offers 3 different ports: HDMI, VGA and DVI-D, while the predecessor has 2 HDMI and VGA.
Laconic design
BenQ GW2470HM is made in a traditional frame design and black colour. A rather large rectangular stand with a surface imitating brushed metal will take care of the stability of the monitor. A noticeable glossy insert in the centre of the stand makes the overall design not so strict. The stand has a single degree of freedom: the tilt of the screen is adjustable in a small range.
On the back of the case there are holes for VESA-brackets, which makes it possible to mount the monitor on the wall.
High-contrast image with high-quality colour reproduction
BenQ GW2470HM received a 23.8-inch monitor with Full HD resolution and 8-bit VA-matrix. The advantages of the latter include a high contrast ratio (3000:1), which provides deep and sharp blacks.
According to users, the colour reproduction of the display is at its best: the picture looks natural and without an overabundance of colours. It is also worth highlighting the excellent uniformity of the backlight, the absence of glare in the dark, acceptable viewing angles.
The response time is slightly inferior to TN-competitors, for example, Asus VP247T, but the overall smoothness of the video sequence is at a decent level. In addition, the base frame rate of 60 Hz can be slightly “overclocked” thanks to the support of Advanced Motion Acceleration (AMA) technology.
The monitor is backlit without flicker (Flicker-Free), offers a wide range of customization options through a convenient menu.
In general, the BenQ GW2470HM is suitable for solving various office and home tasks, from working with texts and surfing the net, to watching movies and spending time playing not too fast and dynamic games.
