One of the flagship models of high-speed wireless routers from Asus. It belongs to the highest price category and provides an unprecedented high speed of both cable and Wi-Fi connections. The router can be used to build multi-user wireless networks of the 802.11ac standard with extended bandwidth. It has a fairly large body and an impressive weight of 750 g for such devices. Noticeable overall dimensions require a place comparable in area to that of an 11-inch laptop.

The hardware basis of the device is two dual-core high-frequency processors, one of which is engaged in traffic routing, and the second ensures the performant operation of the Asus RT-AC87U router in the 5 GHz range. Due to the presence of 4 external antennas (gain 5 dBi) and the full implementation of MU-MIMO 4x4 technology, this model provides high-speed operation with several users at once.
