Middle class
The new Vivo Y17 is a pretty interesting mid-ranger that boasts a triple camera, NFC and a massive 5000mAh battery. It is also one of the few devices from the company that had to abandon the under-screen fingerprint scanner. For Vivo, this was an obsession for a long time, but the reality turned out to be disappointing, and conventional scanners on the back cover work faster and more accurately.
IPS screen with Panda King protection
Another interesting feature of the Vivo Y17 is the Panda King protective glass instead of the usual Gorilla Glass. According to the company, its strength on the Mohs scale is an impressive 8 points, which corresponds to the hardness of topaz. And it is with the screen that the main omission, in our opinion, is connected. With a diagonal of 6.35", its resolution is only 1544x720 pixels. That is, the grain is quite large and it is difficult not to notice it. This is especially offensive because the display itself turned out to be quite juicy, colorful and bright. Even in bright sunlight, it is unlikely that you will need to twist the slider higher than 60%. In general, the Y17 would cost $130, like the Xiaomi Redmi 8, and there would be no questions. But for more than 200 dollars, I would like a full-fledged FullHD +.
Three days of work on a single charge
The screen also has a downside: thanks to a modest resolution and a 5000 mAh battery, the smartphone turned out to be very tenacious. In a moderate mode of use (social networks, streaming video, photography), it was possible to discharge the device to a critical 15% charge only towards the end of the third day. In the test with cyclic playback of videos, the Vivo Y17 lasted 21 hours with a little — a very decent figure. In "heavy" games, the battery is emptied by about 7 – 8% per hour (at 50% display brightness).
Decent performance
In terms of the filling, this is quite a standard mid-range device, which calmly turns around with modern applications and toys. The eight-core Mediatek MT6765 processor with a core frequency of 2.3 GHz is responsible for the performance of the smartphone. Not Snapdragon, but it will work too. 4 GB of RAM, built-in — 128. If someone is not enough, you can also add a memory card, increasing the total volume to 256 GB.
