The TP-LINK Tapo C230 surveillance camera offers an advanced smart system for detecting and tracking potential threats and unusual situations. The built-in mechanical PTZ drive with a horizontal rotation of 360° and vertical rotation of 114° significantly expands the viewing area. The key feature of the model is intelligent object recognition (person, animal, vehicle) as well as sounds like breaking glass, cat meowing, dog barking, or baby crying.

This system doesn't just fixate on activity but also automatically tracks the object on camera, recording all its actions. The manufacturer has provided various monitoring scenarios that allow creating safe conditions for children and pets, and also effectively deter intruders using a sound alarm. For communication, a full two-way audio connection is implemented. Additional settings are available for both priority and confidential zones — for example, bathroom doors, beds, or monitor screens.

Round-the-Clock Monitoring

The camera is designed for continuous operation and provides quality shooting in low light or complete darkness. For this, a 1/2.7 format CMOS sensor with increased aperture of f/2.0 and an infrared sensor are used, ensuring high image detail in night mode.

The advantages of the model include support for microSD memory cards up to 512 GB, which is enough to store recordings for several weeks. The disadvantages include the lack of support for the H.265 codec, which provides maximum video compression without quality loss and saves storage space. There are also connection limitations: a wired LAN port is absent, and the wireless standard Wi-Fi 4 cannot be considered modern. Despite this, the camera is well-suited for home use, supports the ONVIF protocol, and can be integrated into the Google Home smart home system with voice control. The proprietary mobile app provides tools for setup, real-time monitoring, sends activity notifications, and allows sharing of videos.
