Outdated Product
A fairly advanced power supply model, positioned by the manufacturer in the upper part of the average price range. The potential of this model is enough for high-quality maintenance of a gaming PC of almost any performance class. Spectacular RGB lighting and a fully modular wiring system can be considered key features of the device. The Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB SPR-0750F-R LED backlight gradient consists of 256 shades. Stationary, you can use any of the 4 primary colours: white, blue, red and green, you can also set the mode of smooth change of shades or turn it off completely. You can control the RGB backlighting modes using a special knob located on the control panel. The power supply is equipped with an efficient 140 mm fan, which comes into operation at a power load of 5%. During idle...or minimal PC load, the power supply switches to Smart Zero Fan hybrid cooling mode. For gaming needs, you can use up to 6 PCI-E (6 + 2) connectors. The power supply uses a DC-DC converter. The circuitry is built using high quality Japanese (Rubycon) and Taiwanese (Teapo) capacitors.

Pioneers in the lighting world

About 10 years ago, the idea to buy a backlit power supply. many would find it strange. However, times have changed, and one of the first who felt the wind of change were just the guys from the Taiwanese company Thermaltake. The Smart Pro RGB power supply arrived on store shelves in 2017 and has been very popular ever since. Thanks here it’s worth saying the right combination of power, quality (85% efficiency), affordable price and a well-thought-out lighting system.

Smart RGB

The Smart RGB model uses a transparent impeller with ten LEDs in the centre, which creates a large and bright ring of light as soon as it starts spinning. The beauty of backlighting is an amateur thing, so here we’ll leave the ratings and better praise the well-thought-out implementation of the backlighting. For example, its settings are saved when the PC is turned off, it can be synchronized with other RGB components, be it a graphics card, motherboard or processor cooler, and there is a separate button on the block to switch modes and colours. Theoretically, the button allows you not to go into the software for setting the backlight, but in reality, it is located on the back of the case, and reaching for it is not very convenient. It really helps only when you just need to turn off the backlight.

Bright and efficient but noisy

In terms of circuitry and consumer qualities, this is an average level with successful solutions and dubious compromises. The first ones include 80+ Bronze certificate, modular structure, 650 W power reserve, good load capacity of the +12V channel, high-quality circuitry and an extended 7-year warranty. Potentially, this is a solid foundation for an optimal gaming build with a "monster" caliber RTX 2070 Super. Well, there is actually only one main drawback here: the 80+ Bronze quality certificate still makes itself felt, and the local cooling system turned out to be very ambiguous. At a load below 160 W, the cooler operates in passive mode and you won’t even hear it, but turn it up a little more and the noise level will increase to a noticeable 40 dBA. If you load it in full, then the room will immediately become noisy and hot.
