The Samsung QE-55Q67R is an interesting entry-level QLED panel option that supports HDR10/HDR10+ video but only peaks at 450 nits (average 350 nits), which is a little disappointing. Unlike flagship models, the VA panel has limited viewing angles (there is no Ultra Viewing Angle technology), and instead of Full Array backlighting, a simpler version of Edge LED is used here. During the tests, it turned out that the picture can look much more pleasant if you play a little with the settings. White balance and oversharping catches the eye, and when you turn on the enhanced contrast mode, the detail of small objects is lost. It also requires tweaking the HDR mode, which initially looks too acidic. On foreign forums, you can find comparisons before and after manual tuning and they look like two different TVs.
TV as an element of decor
In recent years, Samsung has been actively promoting the idea that a TV is not only a TV, but also an element of decor that should fit into the interior. Therefore, when idle, the QE-55Q67R can turn into a giant photo frame, working in 4 different modes. The first is called "decor" and is reminiscent of the art mode on Samsung's picture TV The Frame, which allows you to set some famous painting masterpiece instead of wallpaper on the TV. If you do not like painting, instead of paintings, you can set an interactive colour background (second mode) on the display that harmoniously complements the interior of your room. The remaining two modes are an info display (time, weather, etc.) or a personal photo gallery, which will be relayed from the smartphone's memory.
Companion for PS5 or Xbox Series X
Despite being a 2019 model, it looks like it was designed with a next-gen console in mind. In addition to the excellent picture, players will be pleased with FreeSync support, which eliminates frame gaps in dynamic scenes at the software level, and a high refresh rate (120 Hz), which is becoming the de facto standard for gaming displays. There's also the Black Equalizer feature common to many gaming monitors, which highlights particularly dark areas of the frame, revealing everything that's hidden. By the way, the same effect can be achieved by simply unscrewing the brightness item from +5 to -5. When the game mode is activated, the value of the input lag is reduced to 15 ms. That is, it is very comfortable to play.
