Finnish tradition of knife making

Fillet fishing knife Rapala PRFGL6 is a gift item from a well-known international concern with Finnish roots that produces equipment, clothing and accessories for fishing. The company's products are manufactured at base plants in 5 countries and exported all over the world. Despite the presence of the brand name in the marking of the model, the knife is made at a subsidiary of Marttiini in Rovaniemi (Finland), which has been part of the concern since 2005. This is eloquently evidenced by the engraving on the blade and the embossing on the sheath. Like most knives with a fillet blade profile, the model has a clumsy design, but compares favorably with its analogues with an all-metal tang-type plate with a long shank that runs along the entire handle. That is, in fact, the blade and handle here form a single whole, which increases the strength of the knife and the possible load on the blade.

Teflon coated blade

The blade of this model, approximately 150 mm long, is made of chromium (13%) stainless steel with a hardness of 52 – 55 HRC with manual grinding and sharpening steps. The narrow, thin blade with a smooth sharpening received a black matte dirt-resistant coating of polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE, which has the more familiar commercial name "Teflon". Martef's signature blade coating minimizes cutting friction and prevents blade corrosion. The shaped handle of the knife is made of birch wood stained in black and varnished to preserve its natural texture. The total length of the model is 270 mm, and for the convenience of wearing it comes with a black genuine leather case with a belt loop and a button closure. There is also a modification of the Rapala PRFBL6 knife, which is distinguished by the execution of the handle and scabbard in brown tones, as well as the uncoated blade polished to a mirror finish.
