Short description:

Nokia 6500 Classic is one of two `twins` from the 6500 series. There is also a slider under the corresponding code name Nokia 6500 Slide. This is not to say that both phones are completely different. There is a common style in the design, although the models differ somewhat functionally. However, the 6500 Classic is still a separate development with its own pluses and minuses. The cons, of course, are much less than the pros.

Technical features:
  • The body of the phone is made of anodized aluminium and plastic elements. The upper part is metal, while the lower shirt is predominantly plastic. Unfortunately, aluminium is a bit `lost` against the background of plastic, especially since it is painted in the appropriate colours - `bronze` or black. Other options are expected in the future.
  • The most `metal` seems to be completely plastic button separators and display/keyboard edging. These `frames` delimit the upper and lower parts of the display.
  • It is noteworthy that auxiliary buttons are completely absent on the side panels. There is not even an essentially useless, but quite recognizable for Nokia key on / off the device. The only thing there is a microUSB connector. It is universal and is used to charge the phone, connect a headset, synchronize with a PC.
  • Unfortunately, unlike the same Slide, Nokia 6500 Classic does not have a protective glass for the display. However, the phone is generally not particularly designed for dropping it, swimming with it in fast-moving rivers, getting it wet in the rain, etc.
  • The display size is 2", an improved TFT-matrix with a resolution of 240x320 pixels is used, capable of displaying up to 16 million shades of colours. The display quality is not bad, in comparison with some competitive models it is simply excellent.
  • Memory. Compared to the 6500 Slide, the memory is 50 times larger. However, this advantage is debatable. Although it is a whole gigabyte in the Classic model, there is no card slot, so in the end the phone even loses a little in such a `competition`. However, permanent memory, if you do not take into account its capacity, is always better than any external card. For performance and reliability.
  • Nokia 6500 Classic was created on the fifth version of the S40 platform. Unlike version 3, there were no life-changing interface changes. The main innovation is the improved music player. Now there are several themes and one differs strikingly from one another. A good equalizer has been used, the song sorting system has been upgraded.
  • In addition to numerous GSM frequencies, the 3G format is also supported - WCDMA 850/2100. This provides the highest quality communication, including high-speed Internet access. However, there is also a drawback - for some reason the phone does not have a second camera for video telephony.
Camera:
  • The camera in the Nokia 6500 is a 2-megapixel camera with a CMOS-matrix and the quality is, to put it mildly, average. Despite the fact that there is a flash with as many as two LEDs, the slightest dimming affects the quality of the photos. However, you should not expect much from the flash - after all, it is not xenon, (the xenon would hardly be installed with a mediocre camera).
  • The maximum resolution of images is 1600x1200 pixels, the minimum is 160x120. Resolutions of 160x120 and 320x240 are no good except, perhaps, for desktop wallpapers.
  • You can choose the quality of pictures, use digital zoom (although it is not needed, it is supported up to 8x). You can apply simple effects to finished shots. Particularly cunning photographers can, at will, turn off the shutter sound.
  • Video is shot in 3GP format with a resolution of 176x144 or 128x96 pixels. The settings and applied effects are generally the same as the camera settings for single photos.
Equipment:
  • Nokia 6500 Classic phone,
  • stereo headphones HS-82,
  • charger AC-6,
  • battery BL-6P,
  • microUSB cable CA-101 for connection to PC,
  • user manual, - CD-ROM with software.
