Classic desktop speakers are becoming rarer, however, there are still many tasks and scenarios for which they are relevant. Microlab's Solo 9C, released in 2014, is still one of the best 2.0 systems in terms of performance and sound quality.
Confidence in every line
The acoustic system impresses with its dimensions, reaching a height of almost 60 cm. The dimensions, as well as 12 mm thick MDF walls and high-quality “hardware”, explain the large weight of the set - 22 kg, so you should take care of the installation site. The model is available in black and brown wood-look vinyl finishes, which will undoubtedly please connoisseurs of harmonious interiors. The model is sharpened under control from the remote control. You can manually adjust only the timbres and volume, their controls are located on the right side of the active speaker housing.
One step away from Hi-Fi
The speakers are equipped with three speakers: these are two 6.5-inch woofers and one 1.5-inch tweeter. In total, they give 70 watts of RMS power per channel in a completely honest range of 50 – 20,000 Hz. Plays Solo 9C quite well. The bass is powerful and dynamic, well articulated. No extraneous overtones. The middle has characteristic detail and attack. The top is clean and transparent. The loudest notes are present.
Solo 9C can be connected via analogue RCA input (2 pairs), digital optical or coaxial input. A special feature is the presence of HDMI (PCM) input and output. On the face of a clear nod to modern TVs and players, which, in general, is not surprising, Solo 9C can be safely attributed to the class of bookshelf Hi-Fi acoustics of the entry level. For complete happiness, only Bluetooth with AptX is missing, but there must be some drawbacks?
Separately, we single out a class D digital amplifier. Once such a solution was considered unpopular in the field of multimedia acoustics, but today leading manufacturers are actively using it in top models. In this case, a two-channel TDA8920C chip is used. That is, no bi-amping, as, for example, in the Edifier R-series, frequency separation occurs with classic passive crossovers at the output.

Summing up, Microlab Solo 9C can be safely recommended for use with a computer or as part of small home theaters. The price, of course, is considerable, but completely justified.
