Design Advantages
Like most JBL products, the model is made in the shape of a barrel, has a compact size of 170x88x88 mm and a weight of 740 g.
Due to the abundance of discreet, non-variegated colours, it easily fits into any interior, and the high quality of the fabric grill simplifies the care of the product and provides protection for the drivers. And of course, where without the famous JBL protection against moisture and water? Here it is claimed at the IPX7 level, that is, you can not be afraid of contact with water.
Charging Features
Thanks to a special stand, the column can be installed vertically. The stand acts as a charging dock, that is, even if the column “sits down” after 8 hours of continuous use, and such battery life is claimed, you can place it on the stand and continue using it. On the other hand, the speaker itself also has a charging port. This allows you not to be tied to the stand if you want to take the device on the road or for a walk.
Music for every taste
For its size, the Link Portable turned out to be quite loud — 20 watts. The lower frequency limit starts at 65 Hz, but the bass sounds quite accentuated and clear. Yes, and in general the sound is very characteristic of JBL. Synthetic. The middle is washed out, the highs are too sharp. The omnidirectional speaker delivers a uniform sound that won't change in character depending on where you are in the room.
Connections
The column connects via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, supports control using Google Assistant and Yandex Alice, GoogleHome and AppleHome applications (AirPlay 2). There are physical buttons for volume control, assistant activation, microphone activation, and even a battery level indicator light. In general, a complete set, which, in general, should be in a smart column of a self-respecting brand.
The JBL Link Portable is definitely a practical and convenient addition to a smart home. There are, of course, questions about the sound quality and cost, the first is a C grade (the same Link Music sounds more interesting), and the second could be more modest than 30 dollars. At the same time, one cannot help but highlight the obvious advantages, which, fortunately, are more than shortcomings.
