Working on a 13" MacBook Air screen can be a bit of a hassle, so I decided to get a portable additional monitor with PD. I chose this option because of the reasonable price, low latency, Flicker-Free, Adaptive-Sync, and a more or less reputable brand rather than some totally obscure Chinese one. The monitor itself is very thin and light. For text work and internet browsing — it's great. The brightness is more than enough, and I comfortably work at about 60%. My eyes don't get tired. The viewing angles are decent (the picture doesn't darken even when not looking directly). In an hour of working, the monitor drains about 15% of the Mac's battery. On the plus side — it comes with a case. However, it feels almost disposable; if it gets worn out over time, finding a new one might be tough. The case has two grooves allowing you to set the monitor at different angles. It's convenient if you place it next to the laptop. But if, like me, you're used to having the monitor above the laptop, it's not easy to find a comfortable viewing angle with these grooves. I end up placing the monitor on its rubber feet and adjusting the angle. I'm planning to buy a desk stand to make it easier. Also, there's a VESA mount included. There is a case. Thin and lightweight. Equipped with Flicker-Free and Adaptive-Sync. Low power consumption. The case securely magnetizes to the monitor. VESA mount. Speakers (just in case you want to quietly play background music for work). The case's materials are cheap. The control button (a spring-loaded lever with a button) isn't the most convenient. |
IPS Panel
The entire front surface of the device is occupied by an IPS matrix with moderately thin frames around the perimeter. The screen displays images at a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, has a response time of 3 ms using the GtG method, and provides a decent color gamut covering approximately 99% of the sRGB space. The brightness level is standard for this class and is about 250 cd/m².
Onboard Interfaces
To connect the portable monitor, there is one miniHDMI 1.4 port and two USB-C ports. The latter supports charging using the Power Delivery protocol with a moderate power of up to 15 W. Additionally, the model is equipped with built-in stereo speakers with a power of 2 x 1 W, and a combined 3.5 mm audio jack.
Mobile Solution
The weight of the Iiyama ProLite P1671HSC-B1 is only 700 g, allowing the monitor to easily fit into the standard laptop compartment of a bag or backpack. The device is equally well-suited for stationary use at a workspace or as a secondary mobile display that's convenient to carry with you daily.
