How to choose a printerGuide to choosing a printer for specific tasks with minimal printing and maintenance costs
a model with serious flaws
6 March 2020
I strongly advise you to choose a model from another manufacturer.
Nothing that would somehow make this printer stand out from other laser printers
I've been using this technological marvel since November 2018. It's one big problem. And considering that I've been using office equipment at an advanced user level for almost 30 years, I've never encountered such a misunderstanding before.
I installed the drivers on the computer with enormous difficulty. Never before did I even suspect that this could cause an issue. The drivers fail with enviable regularity. I have to reinstall them anew.
Periodically, it throws fits, stopping printing halfway. It can print 20 pages in PDF, then stumble in the middle of the next file, and I have to use a Doctor program, which doesn't always help. And this is when printing via USB port. Only driver reinstallation helps.
It prints images through Photoshop)) There's an irresistible urge to throw this machine away or give it to the poor. But the prices of cartridges are such that the poor can't afford it.
I don't want to advertise other manufacturers, but the previous printer, with the ability to refill the cartridge with powder, worked for 7 years. Before it, I had a printer that, under the then-insane workload, worked for 8 years. And a part just flew off the drum, and the model was already discontinued.
So, if you have a lot of spare time, iron nerves, and extra money - you can give it a try.
Elenause HP LaserJet Ultra M106W more than year
good model, I liked it.
28 April 2017
When it comes to monochrome laser printing, I always think of HP printers. I've been working with this equipment for over 20 years, dealing with many different models of laser printers from various generations, and I've always experienced consistently high quality from this brand. It should be noted, though, that almost all of these models were actually manufactured by the Japanese company Canon. However, I don't think this detracts in any way from HP's merits.
There were two reasons that led me to purchase this particular model. The first is that it's simply a good monochrome laser printer. Moreover, it's the latest generation model. It operates quickly, quietly, and with excellent print quality. It heats up from a cold state fairly fast, in less than half a minute, and when printing, it develops a speed of over 20 pages per minute. This is sufficient for a workgroup of 4 people. The approximate print volume is 150-200 pages per week, so the drum unit, which is now installed separately in the printer rather than in the cartridge, will last a long time with such usage. The second important aspect is the package, which includes three full original cartridges, each with a capacity of 2300 pages. This ensures the group is supplied with consumables for the next 8.5 months (!), and then they will be sent for refilling. It can print from smartphones and laptops over WiFi. We haven't tried it in this capacity yet, but I have no doubt that everything will be OK.
According to the manufacturer, the drum cartridge's lifespan will end on the tenth thousand pages, and it costs about 1700 UAH, which is quite a bit. It doesn't handle voltage drops in the network well, which happen to us.
Add Review

The HP LaserJet Utra series of devices is positioned by the American manufacturer as a new printing business model based on the "division of labor". The fact is that a separate toner cartridge and a developer drum cartridge are installed inside the printers of the line. Such a bundle can significantly reduce the cost of a print and extend the life of the photoconductor.

Increased resource

With small volumes of printing, three cartridges that are included in the HP LaserJet Ultra M106W package will last for 2-3 years of use without the need for replacement. Their total resource is 6900 pages. The drum cartridge will need to be replaced when 9200 black and white prints are completed.

Printing methods

The printer supports wired, wireless, and direct printing. The latter method indicates the possibility of printing monochrome prints directly from a flash drive. “Over the air”, the model interacts with smartphones or tablets using Apple Air Print, Google Cloud Print, Wi-Fi Deirect and HP ePrint wireless technologies.

The target audience

Due to its compact dimensions and light weight, the HP LaserJet Ultra M106W will not burden a room with a lack of free space with its presence. With this data, home users and small business owners will form the basis of the printer's target audience. It is these two categories that will be able to fully appreciate all the advantages of the device.

Good to know. The cartridge resource is indicated for A4 pages with 5% toner coverage of the sheet. Those. when filling 10% of the sheet surface, the life of the cartridge will be halved from the claimed value (instead of 2000 prints, it will be possible to make 1000), at 15% — three times (about 666 prints instead of 2000), etc.
