The Scandinavian brand Dali has been pleasing Hi-Fi and Hi-End sound connoisseurs with excellent products for many years. The Phantom E-60 built-in system will not hit the family low-cost much with its purchase, but it will easily provide musical decoration for a bedroom or a small living room.
Laconic simplicity
The Phantom E-60's 26 cm speakers can be easily integrated anywhere in the room, into the ceiling or into the wall, and become almost invisible in the environment, thanks to the thin magnetic grills.
The retractable foot mounting system makes installation quite simple — just tighten the bolts that secure the stop brackets. If necessary, the retractable legs can be turned over and the mounting clearance can be increased by 70 mm. If you are not satisfied with a round grill, you can buy a square one. This option is provided.
Everything for optimal sound
All DALI loudspeakers comply with the wide dispersion principle. It is to maximize the zone of the best perception of music throughout the room. That's why the 165mm Phantom E-60 woofer has been designed to not only minimize the load on the amplifier, but also to create an optimal sound image. To do this, it is slightly inclined at an angle, and for the correct positioning of the acoustics on the outer rim, it has a special marker, which should be directed towards the listeners.
Also of note is the slight offset of the tweeter from the centre of the woofer, which eliminates the “axial coloration” often associated with loudspeakers of this design.
For quick sound optimization, the system supports two audio modes, Focus/Distribute. They are selected with a switch depending on how far the listening position is off-axis. If the offset is not more than 25º, the Focus mode will be optimal. But if the speakers are located far from each other, a second Normal / HF Tilt switch is useful, which raises the frequency response by 3 dB in the high frequencies, making the sound picture accurate and accentuated even in extreme situations.
Inexpensive and tasteful
Thus, even despite the not too outstanding power (maximum amplifier power 120 W), the Phantom E-60 impresses and does not leave indifferent even the sophisticated Hi-End sound users. And given that you can get such pleasure for less than $ 200, we put the Dali Phantom E-60 in an unambiguous "must-have".
- Treble control (0, +3 dB)
