In the spring of 2018, Asus introduced a new series of "pseudo-gaming" laptops with understated design, decent hardware, but without the use of premium materials, as in the ROG series. The hero of today's review Asus X570UD was also in this line.

Gamers among ancestors

In the design of the laptop, there are still slight hints of gaming affiliation, but no truly aggressive and eccentric design frills. The laptop has a slightly domed aluminium-brushed plastic lid, complete with turquoise trim and the Asus logo. The shape of the laptop is strict, but with a twist in the form of slightly chopped corners of the case. This balance between the restraint of work laptops and the flashy colours of gaming machines looks very cool.

High-quality IPS screen with flexible settings

The laptop has a good IPS display with a diagonal of 15" and Full HD resolution. At maximum brightness and against a black background, you can see that the backlight is not quite uniform, but in everyday use it is imperceptible. The brightness adjustment range is sufficient for comfortable indoor use at any time. Colours are pleasing, with adequate calibration out of the box. In which case, using the ASUS Splendid utility, you can adjust the colour temperature, saturation, brightness and contrast, as well as enable the Eye Care mode, which reduces the level of blue colour for comfortable use in the dark.

Eight-thread processor and powerful graphics card

As for hardware, it is enough for comfortable work in Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, and for running most modern games at medium and high settings. The configuration of the laptop is as follows: the latest generation eight-core Core i5 (1.6 GHz — 3.4 GHz), 8 GB of RAM, a 1 TB HDD drive and a GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card with 2 GB of video memory. However when launching the most voracious games, you need to be prepared for the fact that the cooling system starts to make a decent noise, and the case noticeably heats up in the keyboard area. However, this does not create serious discomfort.

Thoughtful ergonomics

The X570's keyboard features full-size keys with a comfortable 1.4mm travel depth. Asus X570UD gaming laptops inherited a backlit keyboard. However not aggressive red, as usual, but “calm” white. In general, what to work with text behind this keyboard, what to play is convenient. The same can be said about the touchpad.

The laptop battery holds up to 10 hours in video mode (with the screen brightness at 40%). There is a fast charge that restores up to 60% charge in 49 minutes.
