I decided that I no longer need a personal computer at home and instead of upgrading it, I bought this laptop. Yes, in terms of pure performance, it certainly falls short of a modern gaming desktop, but why do I need that super performance if, besides surfing, Skype, and occasionally working with text documents, I only play tanks on it sometimes. In principle, I could have chosen a more modest model, but it's better to have some future-proofing. It has many advantages. Firstly, it features an excellent IPS screen with a 17.3-inch diagonal. I don't really like the small standard 15.6 screens, as they always lack vertical space for me, but with this screen, it's more comfortable. Secondly, this is a damn fast laptop, with consistently high speed in any tasks. It's all thanks to the good hardware I searched for days, even weeks. The most modern mobile 4-core processor, Core i5-8250U, works alongside 12 gigs of fast DDR4-2400 RAM and a discrete nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card with 4 gigs of its own memory. The storage is also well thought out, with a 128 GB SSD system drive and a 1 TB HDD. There is super-fast Wi-Fi and fast USB ports, including a reversible USB 3.1 Type C Gen 1. All this runs under the pre-installed Windows 10 Home. I think this powerful setup will last me 3-4 years, we'll see how it goes. A large screen and powerful hardware do not contribute to good battery life. The battery here is not exactly weak, but you still shouldn't expect more than 2-2.5 hours. The cooling system becomes noticeably noisy under gaming load. Also, the metal lid tends to collect fingerprints quite well, and they don't come off easily. |
