working bee

The Taiwanese company Acer produces high-performance laptops in a wide price range. Acer Aspire 5 is a full-fledged representative of the middle class devices. It has a minimalistic design that is more suitable for an office, while at the same time offering good performance.

The laptop screen is made using TN + film technology with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and viewing angles that are unusually good for this type of matrix. The matte finish protects the eyes from glare, but somewhat conceals the saturation of the image. In general, the screen is not bad, but this is clearly not what the Acer Aspire 5 will be praised for in reviews.

Balanced iron

As for the filling, the laptop is equipped with a dual-core Core i7 processor with operating frequencies of 2.7 – 3.5 GHz and multi-threading support. On paper, the processor, although not the most powerful, in most synthetic tests, it keeps up with inexpensive quad-core chips. In conjunction with it, the standard for this class 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 1000 GB HDD and the GeForce MX130 graphics card work, which opens up access to full-fledged gaming. Of course, it won’t work to drive completely fresh shooters on it, but it’s quite possible to play at medium graphics settings in Battlefield 4 or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Reliable and durable housing

The Aspire 5 weighs 2.2kg and measures 381.6x263x21.6mm. Such a mass is explained by the fact that its body is made of thick and durable plastic. There are only metal panels for the hands and a frame around the keyboard. It can be seen that Acer has tried to keep the price as low as possible. But I am glad that they did not save on the build quality — the case is assembled to last, and the cover made of thick and durable plastic could probably stop a couple of blows from a professional boxer.

USB-C support

Finally, we note the presence of a USB-C port, which has not yet become a regular in the middle class and is found every other time in laptops under $700 .. And a good 3220 mAh battery that can power a laptop away from a power outlet for 7 hours.

good model, I liked it
25 October 2017
I was looking for a laptop with a really high-quality screen and a capacious battery for studying, working, and home use. There are quite a few laptops on the market now, but it's not so easy to find powerful hardware combined with a good LCD display and a decent battery. Often, the specs are too weak, or the screen is crappy, or the price is through the roof. But this Acer model turned out just right. The screen is worthy, the configuration is balanced, the size is convenient, and the price was affordable.
Since I originally focused on the screen quality, let me talk about it first. The screen is really awesome! It has a standard size of 15.6 inches, but the resolution is full FullHD, meaning 1920x1080. But the main thing is that it's built on an IPS panel, which means it has good color reproduction, decent brightness, impressive contrast, and superb viewing angles. The laptop itself is quite compact, with a thickness of 22 mm (0.87 inches) and weighs 2.2 kg (4.85 lbs). Combined with an excellent battery, which easily provides 5-6 hours of use for surfing or working with text, it turns out to be a very mobile device. The weight may not be the smallest, but in a backpack, you hardly feel it. The performance is also very OK. A powerful yet energy-efficient Intel dual-core Core i5-7200U with 8 GB of memory, a 256 GB SSD, and a GeForce 940MX graphics card make not only Win10 fly but any applications as well. For peripherals, there are 4 USB ports (one Type C), an HDMI port, and a gigabit network port. The manufacturer didn't hold back on a good Wi-Fi module with 5 GHz band support, too.
Fingerprints easily remain on the keyboard panel. I have no idea what the designer was thinking when choosing the texture of this material, but it clearly wasn't with their head. The cooling system is quite audible under load, and this can be a bit annoying in the late evening/night.
good laptop

The laptop is good, has decent performance, and runs the games I play. BUT in the specs, it says Intel Core i3 6006U, while I have Intel Core i3 7020U, which is 300 MHz faster and has 4 threads. GTA 5 on minimum HD quality runs at 40-60 FPS.

there are none
use Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G few months
for the price, the laptop is good, even though I had nothing to compare it to. I recommend it to everyone.

the laptop is good, perfect for studying and work. It's not bad for games either, but if you open many tabs and, for example, launch World of Tanks or Warface, it might crash or lag, and you'll have to restart.
the laptop starts up very quickly, has no lag on the internet, features a very good keyboard, is priced well, has a clear camera, and has 3 USB ports.
poor screen review, even though the screen is matte and not reflective. No disk drive, 500 MB of memory, takes a long time to load when there are many tabs, for its not-so-small price of 568 EUR.
use Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G less than month
