Solid and thick metal, simple sink from Teka
28 December 2016
When buying home appliances in general and plumbing in particular, I always try to focus on well-known brands. Yes, indeed sometimes you can save money by purchasing a successful no-name, but for things that are supposed to last for many years, I prefer not to take risks. That's how it was with the sink as well. The budget for its purchase was not exactly luxurious, but I still preferred to buy a budget option from a well-known Spanish brand. By the way, it's better to make such purchases in reputable stores that value their reputation. The market is now flooded with cheaper counterfeits, which differ externally only by the absence of the Teka inscription. But when you pick up a counterfeit, you will immediately feel the difference, it's the weight. Counterfeits are stamped from 0.5-0.7 mm sheets and such a sink then rattles under a stream of water and "walks" under mechanical loads.
This is a simple, one might even say straightforward sink, consisting of a medium-sized bowl and an impressively large "wing". It fit in place without any issues, looking beautiful and neat on a light gray countertop. Its main advantage is the thickness and quality of the steel. The millimeter thickness gives the sink noticeable weight, excellent rigidity, and relatively low noise under the water stream. As for the quality of the steel, everything is excellent here – non-magnetic steel 18-10, which contains 10% chromium and 10% nickel, is the best material for this type of appliance. It has the highest chemical resistance, is mechanically strong, and cleans excellently.
The sink makes less noise than thinner and cheaper counterparts, but the sound still seemed too loud to me. I did additional soundproofing using sheet material for soundproofing a car.
