Model overview based on user reviews
The Silicon Power Armor A30 2.5" is a reliable external hard drive known for its large capacity and excellent protection. Users appreciate the USB 3.0 connection and the convenience of not needing an additional power cable, which aligns with modern trends of micro-miniaturization. The drive's protective design also serves as a cable holder, adding to its practicality. While some users find the build slightly flimsy, others have experienced its durability firsthand, withstanding multiple drops without issues. The drive offers high read and write speeds, making it a preferred choice over regular flash drives. However, its protective features make it slightly bulkier and more expensive than some alternatives. Overall, it is a great choice for those prioritizing data protection and capacity.

great model, I really liked it

Well, what can you say, a good external drive, from a normal manufacturer. The speeds are really high, I tested them, and the results were not much worse than the stated ones, both in terms of read and write speeds. The cable is attached around the device, it looks normal outwardly, the material does not scratch, and it is not heavy, among other things. For me, it’s much more effective and convenient than regular flash drives
There are enough of them
No, I didn't find it

There is protection - for me, that's the main thing.
25 March 2014
Since I constantly exchange videos with friends, flash drives are never enough for me. The idea of buying a compact external hard drive came to me quite a while ago. But I only "matured" to it just now. Initially, I was thinking of getting a simple model. But then I saw this one and realized it was exactly what I needed. I'm not very careful with things, but this way I don't have to worry as much about it breaking in the next fall :)
Large capacity - I chose the terabyte model. As a result, it turned out that my portable drive is twice as big as the one installed in the computer. As a result, I completely stopped worrying about free space. The presence of protection is very good; you don't need to worry about dropping the drive. I also liked that this protection also serves as a cable holder. There's a USB 3.0 connection. Externally, it also looks quite nice. I chose the white model.
Due to the presence of protection, the size of the drive ended up being larger than many other similar models. But here you have to choose - size or reliability. I value the latter more. Also, as I understand it, there is not the fastest hard drive installed inside, but again, this is for reliability. Moreover, the difference in speed is not that noticeable. No further complaints.

normal model, nothing special

1. brand 2. no additional power cable required, which in the modern trends of micro-miniaturization saves space greatly
it's not armor at all, really feels flimsy to the touch, and after falling from a height of about 70 cm, it fell apart like a toy (two out of four fastening screws came off).

Enhanced fall protection system

Silicon Power was one of the first to catch the trend for secure external drives and launched the Armor line, a distinctive feature of which is an increased level of security (according to the MIL-STD-810 standard). Interestingly, thanks to the suspension shock absorption technology of the inner part of the disk, it successfully passed the 3-metre drop tests. Typically, to pass the MIL-STD-810 test, it is enough to withstand a fall from a height of up to 1.2 metres. But the Power Armor A30, unfortunately, does not have protection against dust and moisture.

Practical case

As for appearance, the Armor A30 boasts a pleasing to the eye and thoughtful design: curved rounded edges serve as legs for a table stand and play the role of a protective bumper when dropped, and the concave side edges of the disc allow you to comfortably hold it in your hand without fear of accidentally dropping it. The protective casing is made of plastic and silicone, which softens possible shocks and also neutralizes vibration. In addition, a rubber gasket is placed between the case and the hard drive, which will protect the control board from damage in case of a fall on a stone.

USB 3.1 Gen1 support

Hidden inside the shroud is a 1TB Toshiba drive that runs on USB 3.1 Gen1 and is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0. According to synthetic tests, the average operational read and write speed of the disk reaches 72 MB / s. The indicators are far from the most record-breaking, but they allow you to read / write data without long delays even when working with large amounts of information.

A set of proprietary software

An additional feature of Silicon Power Armor A30 is a set of proprietary SP Widget utilities that simplify the process of backing up files from a PC, archiving data, encrypting files on a disk, installing a “PC-lock” to lock a computer with a password, and much more useful.
